CWA Grievance Question

Do I have to be a "card carrying" CWA member to file a green sheet? Our Union Rep says I have to sign up or I can't file. Thanks

Just port your grievance here; we'll take care of it.

Filing a grievance is the key, then If your union representative doesn’t take it up, you can then you can file a compliant with the National Labor Board. Some people just like to complain but not make it official. One can file on basically anything contractual related, even if they aren’t taking up your suggestions for negotiations.

“Dues paying members or the local can file our own grievances if the company isn’t following the contract, scabs can get their own lawyer for their grievances, they are just a bunch of parasitic leeches that complain about the contract articles, while not helping to support negotiations or union leaders. Welfare rats.”

What about the thousands of members that send in their hard earned $ every month only to have their voice & vote ignored by the U management team? Apparently welfare rats come in all shapes and sizes.

Many baby store sell rattles and toys you can place over your crib. Is the company asking for you to start working the entire day?

Go work for Comcast (non-union) and see how that works out for you in both wages, benefits and work rules, scabs. Within a matter of a few years, they get rid of their techs and mangers once they reach top pay, have had many co-workers who experienced it before coming to work in a Union shop, AT&T.

Remember, you don’t have to pay the shakedown fee to be treated poorly by the union.

Filing a grievance isn’t about protecting an employee or member or nonmember. It’s about ensuring that the company complies with the terms of the labor agreement.
Half- a$$ representing a nonmember with the silent hopes of a negative outcome for him only ends up hurting the entire craft force if the company isn’t held to a correct standard every time.

“You may get representation but at what level is the question. Another option for scabs is to hire your own labor lawyer to represent you but scabs want all the negotiated benefits without paying any dues, so that probably won’t happen. GTFO.”

You talkin about those top notch “labor lawyers” that we send to the bargaining table to get us these almost going backwards contracts for the last 20 years? I assume they’re the same one that can’t get us a unified contract date across all states. Heckuva note when the U management team wants no part of unity.

Anyone else notice when UWA settled their contracts with the Big Three that non-union Toyota immediately gave nearly identical raises and benefits to their employees.

Time to stop funneling all the money to the elite and stockholders. There needs to be more sharing of the profits with the company employees and pay middle class wages and benefits like it used to be. AT&T retirement stinks for anyone hired after 1999. Most other union retirements like Teamsters and UAW are much better, time for a change or get a bigger match in negotiations? $2k match a year is going to work anymore, inflation has been too high the last 3 years.

Depends on the state.

Obviously you are in an “open shop”.

In an open shop, employees have the right to decide for themselves whether to join or financially support a union. However, they are still covered under the collective bargaining agreement negotiated by the union, even if they choose not to become a member.

Rackets demand payment for protection.

Randy and John know more about rackets for protection than you can only imagine.

Have you ever placed to company in over 125 Billion dollars in debt? No, you have not. Randell and John have.

Small example

Nope, I filed several grievances and I'm not a card carrying member of CWA. However, this doesn't mean that the union rep will send the grievance through the channels. They could easily make up excuses like I experienced and was told that the grievance is on hold at this time, whatever that meant. Yes, they do have to represent you, but will they follow through, doubtful, very doubtful!

Union is required to provide representation in any grievances that are about wording spelled out in the contract. You don’t have to be a card carrying member to get that representation. Let them know you will file a formal complaint with the ACLU if they refuse. You are covered by the contract just like card carrying members.
