Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Another Talent Acquisition Layoff

This is the second large layoff for the talent acquisition team. Surprising? No!

Anything Nike does now a days doesn’t surprise me.

If you are a Talent Acquisition professional stay way from Nike.

TA was overbuilt when everyone thought the post pandemic hiring sprint would last forever. They had their fun traveling all over and throwing recruiting parties while building their airline status. Time to flush the toilet.

Well since most TA can be automated anyway, not sure any jobs will open for people to stay away.

@2ibg Here is the thing, Nike HR has been very irresponsible when it comes to how they have managed the TA function of the years. Yes, there have been a lot layoffs in TA across a lot companies this past year+, but Nike continues to perpetuate the cycle of hire, hire, hire and then fire, fire, fire. It's been happening for years because they lack an ability to plan. The head of TA is clueless as to how to manage her function and hasn't learned from history. Why keep hiring full time people, when you keep laying them off every 2 years. Hire contract labor.

@OP read the room, every big (and many small) company have had massive Talent Acquisition layoffs in 2022 and 2023 and things are really really tough out there for anyone in TA, many have lost their jobs several times over at multiple different companies since covid. Some companies have cut TA with numbers in the high hundreds to thousands. The Nike TA cuts this year pale in comparison. And it’s simple math, when the economy or a companies growth/profit slows, hiring slows (it never full stops for long, but does slow down in cycles for a few years at a time) and wage-based budgets need to go down, so TA is frequently at risk. This is not just a Nike problem.

in fairness (I am no Nike apologist) this function is being cut to the bone across all sectors right now for HR/Recruitment positions.
