Swipes - need to log into work PC

Can anyone confirm if they only count a swipe if you log into your work PC? If so, is there any min log in time?

Ip is tracked and swipe is given. Verified with my manager

There is no report tied to IP addresses. That doesn’t mean there won’t be, but as of now that has not happened. Having flexibility to work both in the office and at home is managers discretion. I’m fully supportive of this and feel it’s the least we can do for our people in this terrible environment we work in.

But the real question for you… can you keep your fingers away from the ”Smart phone” long enough to prove that you’re actually working?

Ahhh… that is an interesting question for you…

The thing that's more backwards than needlessly making everyone come into the office is that anyone still has their own PC at work.

according to my mgr, they are checking turnstile swipes. But they can if they wanted to check all floor access if needed. They are also checking VPN/IP location; so if you are just doing at home, they'll know.

I also recently heard they're checking random keystrokes, to see whom are actually doing work. They keystroke thing bothers me...

We all used our own equipment and electricity and we saved thousands of dollars without commuting costs. We never had it so good as we did during the pandemic.

Your whining is solely because you want the Bank to allow you to be fully remote again but there is no reason for that. Perhaps the Bank could offer us a pay cut to work from home? About $500 a month sounds fair to me.

Talk about stealing. I’ve had my pension stolen. 401k stolen. HSA company contribution reduced(partially stolen), next year completely stolen, etc. stealing is disgusting behavior. I agree Todd jr.

These are the same types of people who will steal equipment from the company campus to set up their work from home office. Disgusting behavior.

What extremes? We all saved a ton of money and you got lucky. Be honest with yourself and take the high road. Interview for a fully remote position as an adult would.

We all used our personal internet and phone and we saved money like bandits without gas and parking costs. It was so damn good that you should be eternally grateful to BMYM for that era and recommit to your job. But you’re too self centered for that.

What do you mean that they never set the expectation that we would return to work? That’s ridiculous! Read your offer letter and reconnect to your job or take the high road and leave. You cannot trash management even as you’re stealing time from the company. It’s disgusting to see such an entitlement issue.

i.e. they became slackers and decided that they don’t need to come to work. The honorable route would be to conduct a job search for a fully remote position. But that’s too much work for these folks. The dirty little surprise that they’re going to encounter is that coworkers and former managers are going to give lukewarm references at best.

In the past slackers have been encouraged by the lack of repercussions both by coworkers and disengaged managers. But it’s been really gratifying to see how many people have finally openly come to realize how horrible the slacking ethic here has become. I’d go so far as to say that perhaps this Bank can survive after all.

Good god, the sense of entitlement is simply astounding. The very reason for RTO can be seen clearly throughout these threads. We desperately need to weed these people out without a reward of SUB. There should be no Participation Trophies, including Sub, for these slackers. The metrics don’t lie, but our people certainly do.

Why don’t you just come into the office when you’re supposed to instead of trying to buck the system? I swear, some of you are the most petulant, sniveling, whiny children I’ve ever seen; throwing your tantrums about having to come into the office to do your job. Su-k it up, buttercup. Grow up and be an adult. Your sense of entitlement is showing.

They never set the expectation that wfh was going to be permanent post covid. People should just be happy they didn't make us go back to the office 5 days a week as we did precovid. you want a fully remote job then go apply for one

I don’t think that this is about “being a slacker”, I think it’s about the fact that many have adjusted their lives while working at home. I know that I worked many more hours. I have been following the rules, but I’m personally ticked that these extremes are being taken when for three years, I used my own internet and personal cell phone to keep their business running and most of us did a damn good job doing so. I used my own home computer until 6 months before returning to office.

Badge swipes go by building access . As a manager I have heard nothing about IP addresses but there are reports that show you’re activity while you are logged into your computer

Not sure why there is so much hostility in these answers. I don’t understand the point of forcing us to sit in the office and deal with the ear shattering noise and ungodly bathrooms if we can get home at lunch within a hour. More pointless monitoring, feels like grade school.

Will they be aware of the times I’ve been in the office all day, then work in production issues for hours from home at night? Will they care. No. Just doing my job

They are running another report, in addition to swipes that will show your IP address. So for people who were only going into an office for 3 hours, then going home to work for the rest of the day, they are going to be able to know that now.

If you're asking, that probably means you're trying to circumvent the system. Just do your damn job and show up.
