Well my current manager is going around telling everyone that my idea was his idea. I have the emails to prove it was my idea but clearly due to h the fact that I report to him there is nothing I can do about it and he knows it. I guess I’ll just have to get promoted above him and then PIP him.

This post was my idea
Let me give an idea. When you have an idea and tell the idea to your boss start to comment your idea to everybody's. In that way your boss will not have the chance to spread your idea like hers or his idea.
People steal my ideas all time. I don't worry about it. You know why? Because my old idea always gets replaced with a bigger and better idea. Don't be the golden egg, be the golden goose! Also, the ideas come from my God given miracle of a brain and were never really mine to begin with. I recommend you try some humility and recognize your life giving force, instead of sniping at your boss and so called 'idea' thieves. You're paid to collaborate and continuously innovate, not to just be a one hit wonder!
The entire Annandale, New Jersey, especially their Corporate Strategic Research (CSR) has lived through stealing ideas from others and promoting themselves to d-mb and blind bosses through full time theft and disguise.
Yes, one of my former boss had nothing to show for his performance for the year. Really didn’t know how to do his job. Voila! Copy and paste…. And then changed his job description to mine except with more embellishment. He got promoted and I got moved on.
OP: This is ExxonMobil all across. You found out too late.
We got Kansas State, Ohio State, Louisiana State, Aggie, Anna University, Pune University etc. dumpsters and thieves as employees. Do not expect anything better.
I once found out about an Idea Thief years after the fact.
Apparently the guy got a promotion for taking credit for my work!
Very simple concept:
There are people that do, and there are people that do PowerPoint.
EM values the latter, and promotes and compensates the latter far more.
If you are doing actual work, you are just creating data for someone else’s PowerPoint.
The person that presents a success on PowerPoint slides will always get more glory than the person who struggled and sacrificed to achieve the success.
This is a core principle of EM.
That is the EM way.
Here’s an idea… grow a pair
Corporate America 101. Quit being a nancy.
Your 'ideas' while on the clock are intellectual property of Exxonmobil.
Sounds like classic xom and typical inner office politics. That is how so many have climbed the ladder there. Once you had been pegged into a high rank (anyone, who foolishly believes they really rank folks should re think that: it would take a colossal effort to do for real….) you are untouchable and that is why it is rampant there.
Are you in Clinton?
Taking credit for other people’s work and stealing co-workers ideas is pervasive. There’s been many cases where managers are credited when they done zero work. Others have been cut out because of office politics. Nothing you can do about actions of others and their lack of ethics. No one listens and this is a sign of the lack of leaders in this company.
What you can control is yourself and make sure you act with the highest level of integrity. And if you are ever in a position of power, do your best to make sure these things don’t happen.
Grow a pair and go to his boss!
