I hear a lot about medical accomodations, but is there such a thing as a personal/hardship accomodation to remain working at home?
Before passing judgement and hating on me for asking this question - just remember, not everyone’s life is perfect. Everyones situation is different, and the person smiling at the water cooler just might be faking it.

They didn't help me. My wife collapsed on the floor with nobody home. Bank didn't care. My wife eventually died leaving me as a single parent to 2 troubled teens. Again the bank doesn't care. I received their stupid work place excellence email. Sc--w them.

Hi OP, typically you would work through your manager if you have a personal hardship which does not meet the medical accommodation requirements, who would then escalate to their HR partner and go from there.

Medical accommodations go through a vendor, however personal hardship which fall outside the medical accommodation criteria do not and are instead evaluated internally with the FLU Executive needing to sign off (at least in my area of the enterprise).

I have seen a very limited number get granted over the past year, but it's not very common and typically those granted have a unique situation/justification above and beyond the regular request.

It didn't work for me so I retired. But try for it. If you don't ask you don't get. Bank likes to tout work life balance but it's a lie. I was very stressed my last 60 days (length of time it takes process retirement) but I'm glad I left. Less stress now, enjoying my time with my wife, catching up on the honey do list.

Before you start the paperwork grab the latest version of the ADA guidelines. None may apply to you but don't give up. Elder care, dependant children with a condition that does meet ADA standards, should this be the case then brush up on the laws in your state reference the requirements that need to be met in order to legally declare you as a caretaker. Another avenue is to reach out to anyone in the various internal groups we have. Finally, start calling your local home health-care companies. Talk with the lead RN for suggestions.

Your manager can submit a personal hardship request. It goes to a vendor fur approval. You do not need an executive to sign off - only your manager to submit.

There is, but it would have to be signed off on by the FLU Executive and HR Partner which can be a tough thing to obtain if the FLU wishes to remain consistent. Doesn't hurt to ask though.
