Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Lets Make This A Life Worth Living Aight

Listen yall !! I know you are all frustrated as am i. Life isnt easy anymore, stuffs expensive and salaries aint keeping up. PIPs/PADPs whatever, i know its all bologna....it all su-ks and at times i feel like absolute cr-p and dont wanna live like this anymore.

But guess what.....i have worked at Halliburton/Schulumberger and EPCs like Worley/Fluor and let me tell you we have it pretty good here guys. I have plus minus 38 years as an engineer/senior project director level experience in this industry. And while i can confirm that sh--s hit the fan recently (past 10 years). Let me tell you guys, lets all bring it back together, we have it pretty good salary wise/job security wise / and career progression wise. We have only 1 life to live guys, lets live our best lives, the universe will take its course, we give it our best and thats about all we outta do.

Im not a company man or a bootlicker.....i would leave in a instant if i found a better opportunity, but at the same time im grateful because im not breaking my back as a field engineer working for a shithole like Halliburton, nor am i slaving away for pennies for Fluor/Worley.

Thats all. Have fun live life !!

Given the whiners on this board...sounds like there is room for XOM to increase PIP's and force a few with bad attitudes to the bottom quintile. Seems like there is always another group of bottom quintile after we have fired/Pip'd the previous bottom quintile

You can never live in peace and honesty until you have coworkers who are frauds, liars and cheats (OSU, LSU, KSU, UIUC, TAMU, … y u name it).
Most lndians and Chi nese have to be bootlickers for survival and greed for lowly managerial roles.

Please everyone, lighten up and find a way to way to enjoy. Don't spend too much time fighting each other. Were just pawns in 'their' game. Everything about this company is fake. It's one giant money laundering op. We're all overpaid and with good reason. Just do your pretend job, send email, follow up, host meetings, managing your kanban cards, mentor and advise others, whatever... and try to do something good with any money you're able to save. And can someone please raise the vibration at campus! I do my best to show up in great mood and spread joy, but it never fails that there's some angry looking depressed fool in my elevator. Do you really like being angry all the time? Cheer up please. Start making a gratitude list or something.

OP: Is spreading propaganda a part of, of your entire PIP project?

It’s at least 3 managers to oversee the work of one individual. They recognize who get things done and then pile on soul crushing amount of work. Because these imbecile managers don’t know how to get things done themselves other than to gaslight. Then when the person fulfill their purpose, they dump them. There is no career progression here and the pay increase gets smaller and smaller with time. Horrible place.

Well said for a guy with 38 years and options. I too finally have options, yet somehow I’m still human enough to have empathy for the 90% of my colleagues who have none. Our company is pure evil when it comes to how they flip on people once they are in the trap. What people say here is the truth. We work for a company that ranks people well until they are in the trap, then they drop them from the top of the rank list to the bottom and they spend the second half of their careers with no real raises and diminishing benefits, all while management piles on soul crushing work burdens and denigrates them at every opportunity. And let’s not forget the very real fear they all live under of being replaced by a foreign worker at any time. I personally witnessed a colleague literally break down in tears this week. So even though I now have options, I make it a point to avoid the glass half full happy talk around my many colleagues who are still in the struggle.

OP, agree whole heartedly.

This forum used to be interesting for its actual insight on some of the policy decisions that were leaked in detail….things that were a bit smoke-and-mirrors to employees. Now it is just a bunch of disgruntled people….many of whom I suspect no longer work at EM.

It probably means that the contentious policy decisions have reduced, now that we are post COVID and layoffs. ….or they are now well understood and ‘they way of life.’

OP - yep, life is still much better than at sh1th0le service providers and Contractors. However, just like any investment, business, etc look at the trends. Where does employment at EM seem to be going relative to the rest of the industry ? When will it hit bottom on many fronts? Idk, but many seemed concerned . Good luck to you

@OP These disgruntled sh!t-posters could fix every complaint they have in two seconds by moving on. They just won’t.

And we know why they won’t: they’ve grown complacent, their skills have atrophied, and they’re paid well for doing very little actual work. Most of all, they need the money and they’re not employable to the same level anywhere else.

@mmk+1pwTbtmY apparently you are a manager that is delusional about what they have authority over!

Well sais but unfortunately you neglected to mention it is a daily beat down telling everyone they are being replaced by law cost sc-m! There is no way possible for a person to feel good about that and ignore it! It is so perverse they demand that you are a full participant in your own demise! It is similar to directing someone to commit financial su----e and like it. Personally I am sick of seeing how this is like a cancer on fellow employees. 40 years with majors that DO NOT ABUSE THEIR EMPLOYEE'S!
