Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Mandatory RTO

I think our Management should require everyone to show up on Mondays and Friday and they can pick the other day of the week. This would stop this madness.

Trust me there’s tons of space on Monday and Friday.

I may be crazy but I always thought those who sign my check make the rules, unless it is illegal or unethical. If I don’t like their rules then I can choose to fire them and find other employment, just like they can fire me. It’s how I came to work here.

That sums it up, but people don’t want to hear that. I will however state that the relocations resulting from this widespread RTO is a bit much. Especially the way it was communicated.

Are any of you aware that prior to Covid ATT had the same exact policy and people would never come in and no one cared?

Another T employee who thinks what goes on in their small world is how it is everywhere. Not exactly correct. Pre pandemic not everyone was working from home. Big difference, and T is working to get people back in. After they get rid of those they selective fire for not showing up perhaps it will go back to what was in place pre pandemic where some people were allowed flexibility.

News flash, badge swipes are clocked so they already know when you swipe in and out. Are they looking at this on reports? Who knows.

Another T employee who assumes what happens in their small world is how the rest of T works. News flash —- not all buildings require badging out.

I fired my previous employer because they didn’t want to give raises and pay me market rates. I will do the same to T if they impose rules I don’t agree with, coming to work (RTO) 3 or even 5 days a week doesn’t reach that level for me. Relocating is a different story, so until then I’ll report even though I’m not as efficient and it’s an inconvenience, it’s their call they sign my check.

Pretty simple to me.

That plan would disrupt my sleeping in, playing with kids and avoiding doing any work. No RTO.

No wonder AT&T slipped to #3 in Wireless with so many people unwilling to put in maximum effort anymore.

When I worked for AT&T people showed up every day, put in a good days work and were proud to be at a company that stood for something.

Hmmm, kind of sounds like the downward trajectory of America at large.

For those complaining, just quit, you’re not as important as you think you are. If you were you would be making the rules. Until you make a status change and acquire a controlling interest in the company you are nothing more than peasant and an be replaced. For all 5 days a week coming in 3rd quarter 2024.

I was working from home for the past 10 years as a full time office employee. Then I was made a flexible office worker which meant I was supposed to report 2-3 a week, but never did. For years!

Next they made me a Teleworker. Was supposed to show up once a month. Didn’t report for years!

After Covid they lumped me with everyone else. They used covid to destroy WFH.

Of course you don’t want to go to work. We all want to stay in our pajamas and drink hot cocoa but we got poles to climb and manholes to pump. Get to work. The USA will get owned with this mentality of staying home getting lazier and fatter and sicker.

What’s going to happen is, they will enhance the RTO reports to see how much time your pc is connected in the office, and see that people are only coming in partial days just to get a badge swipe, and then they will jack up the minimum to 5 days a week!

Amazing people aren't willing to do what their employer who's paying them requires.

What madness? You have everyone show up Monday and Friday and you'll definitely have madness ... and not enough desks. What problem are you even trying to solve by having everyone show up the same two days?

Don't want to know your answer. Really want no further insight into your thinking, thanks. Just posting this comment in awe of your stupidity.

Get a life. Why do you care? I can do my job better from home and don’t have to deal with people like you that have no life, probably nothing to do at work and think everyone being back in the office is awesome so you have people to talk to. I’ve got work to do.
