Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

SouthEast CWA December 15 layoffs guess

How many total craft layoffs on the 15th?
Customers are sick of the lies and stealing and dealing with incompetence shown by the lack of new sales with decisions by greedy suits. So anyone want to guess how many CWA craft union employees leadership have decided will be laid off on the 15th?
A. 0 (lol with our current culture)
B. 1 to 50

  1. 51 to 150. ( my guess cause we could hire another 500 to 1500 contractors that are clueless but may learn someday and work will get done)
  2. 151 to 300. ( think of the extra kicker in the bonus?)

E. 301 to 400. ( why not? Most don’t work all day now)
F. 401 to ?. ( the work will get done when / if we can… because we don’t care)

Place your bets and Merry Christmas

ATS is/was a system for union job posting and stood for AT&T Transfer System. Yes I know the tech group uses this acronym as well. Too many of our acronyms start with A that they all get muddled.

“There will very little in the new negotiated contracts regarding “job security”, simply due to the state of the business and industry. The hay days are over here folks.”

Wow got that out of the way! What else will be in the contracts that haven’t started negotiations yet. Please tell us we’re dying to know!

“ Nothing new, it’s BAU for large corporations of hiring in one area while having layoffs in another”

Comparing T’s surplus rhythm to other healthy companies is laughable. There is not a one for one at T, it’s more like surplus 3 and hire 1. Believing anything else will find you out the door with no plan.

I think January will be the earliest you’ll see surplus in the unions. Just a guess.

A. I think we’re under a freeze during the transition to workday.

Nothing new, it’s BAU for large corporations of hiring in one area while having layoffs in another, seen it for over 25 years.

Time to revisit job security during next year contracts negotiations (2 districts), a lot of other issues need improved too. It’s looking more favorable for a strike. Save your beanies, you have time and you’ve been warned!

Nothing surprises me for this year or within the next 3-5 years!
Overall, for the company as a whole, layoff numbers we can’t even imagine!
T revenue is weak and we have high debt, so it will be continued layoffs for the rank and file.

Yeah we’re below the watermark but they’ve found a way around that! There a several craft 2 year term jobs in ATS right now. They can get the work done with no commitment other than the two years all while paralyzing permanent employees of any movement. SOBs are a joke

C - and to those who say the company cannot layoff any more workers because of the "watermark", that doesn't matter because we're ALREADY below that number and we haven't stopped them so it doesn't matter if the number drops further. (The so-called "watermark" is the number of union jobs the company committed to per the Leg T/CWA contract which is around 2k).
