I’m actually surprised with this thread. Perhaps the newest complaints about RTO missed the true purpose is to have you quit to allow more work transfer to 8~10 cents on the dollar types around the world.
“ we can hire ten to twelve of them for what we pay you” is the wisdom.
As the execs stand on stage and say “get in office” they ignore the fact that they have favorites working from cities outside the 9 locations that are NOT in market/Not with their people… but there’s super secret talk and we’re supposed to not address these special accommodations for the favorites.
Is this the only "leader" we got? Completely clueless with cognitive dissonance from reality? There are a lot of people that were hired as teleworker prior to covid. If he this normally d...um.b? To use covid as an excuse as if telework didn't exist before? Really? I think this dude is high.
The Dallas moving to N3 comment was a joke?
Are we not addressing the vapid joke made when the question was asked about increasing CA locations from N3 to N4 for a better TSR, but they said no, but Dallas is going from N2 to N3! Because .... drum roll .... all the CA are moving to Dallas! As if those CA people were not told to move on their own dime to Dallas.
I get that CA politics su-k and there has been a migration to TX without ATT, but that joke was in poor taste, given the current move or leave edict.
Can I point out a couple things: 1. None of my coworkers are co-located with me, neither is anyone I need to collaborate with. 2. I was fully remote long before covid. But now because I live in a hub city, I’ve had to report to the office since July.
My day consists of driving an hour into an office, find a place to sit, sit on teams calls all day, speak to NO ONE in the whole building for any business reason because they are not in NEO nor do I have a reason to talk with them other than socially, drive home an hour. Yeah, it’s pretty pointless. But yeah, I get my 100% compliance.
You know I really wouldn’t mind being in the office if there was an actual purpose for me to be there other than to get a badge swipe. Would love to collaborate with others and have face to face meetings, but yeah due to the work, that’s not possible. We are a regional team.
The implementation of RTO was a disaster. To force everyone back into the office without even a month's notice had unforeseen consequences. In our area, there weren't even enough desks to accommodate everyone who showed up. Fights broke out at several locations, I heard someone got stabbed with a pencil, and local police maintained a presence in the parking lot for over a month. Several individual contributors, including myself, were forced to go in to "collaborate" even though they were the only member of their team in that location. Network issues are still unresolved for some people who have to still use Anyconnect VPN, and BSOD's are still a regular occurrence due to incompatible equipment. On a personal note, my wife and I had been taking care of my elderly mother with dementia for 3 years prior to RTO. Due to the mandate, I was forced to put her into a "care" facility. She fell the second night there, and passed away less then 2 weeks later. I hold AT&T and their blanket RTO mandate directly responsible. I was hired as a teleworker, not a traditional worker. I was a teleworker for over 10 years with no issues. AT&T dissolved the teleworker class and moved me to a traditional worker not to improve my performance or collaboration, but to push me toward resignation. Honestly, I wish I had left. The damage has been done now, so I guess I will wait for the right time.
He said this website is toxic.
Let's be truthful and just say AT&T is toxic. And if it weren't, there would be no need for this website.
My co workers are in a different country.
“I don’t care if you can do your job from home. Come into the office, that’s where your coworkers are.”
Well I look around this office, NOT ONE, in my organization in here.
Sigh.
JK is gross in all aspects. Horrible leader and manager, clueless when it comes to mobility. She is a dinosaur that needs to be shown the door.
Can’t tell you how happy I am to report up to Chris S. Stand up guy and straight sho-ter.
I’d like to see him get a promotion.
Oh let's drag the oldest looking people out on the stage to be able to say they do not look like the rto is an age discrimination project.
