Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Severance

Anyone know information on successful pursuit of severance after being told your job is secure, you leave and the position is eliminated?

If you're on approved leave, they cannot lay you off, that would be a lawsuit.

This is silly. If you leave and they decide not to backfill your position, you won't get severance. It's just an opportunity for them to claim a head count reduction w/out laying off another person (for the time being).

As about as valid as “I thought about buying a lottery ticket so I should get the winnings”

OP, what you don't realize as well is that you and your role could have been secure. However, when you left, they reversed and decided that they didn't want to backfill. To pocket the savings. This helps them not layoff somewhere else. Happens all the time.

“i think this OP meant, your told your job is secure, you on leave (maybe long term sickness or maternity) and you are laid off then after or during.”

This doesn’t make sense either, because if you are on any type of “leave” and are let go, you receive a severance package. No one knows if there job is secure, even managers sometimes don’t know until that week they have to layoff. Don’t ever assume your job is secure, no such thing at WF.

Unless you meant to say you left an old job for a new offer that you were told was secure only for it to be eliminated before you started, this is a very d-mb question.

Stupid joke aside... Schart and friends are pushing forced attrition i.e. making the lives of employees so miserable that they quit voluntarily. Sadistic af.

You probably saved someone else’s job by quitting, congratulations, you did a good deed.

So you quit, but since they didn’t replace your role you want severance? Is that what you are asking. Good luck, it’s called saving money in an org to not replace a body, happens all the time.
