I recently left Cisco EMEA because of the terrible downsides of their culture. It can be a fun place to work, but NOBODY has agency to actually make decisions. Any leadership team up to the EMEA SLT is only talking but not making decisions. Feels like even the # of TP rolls is assigned by someone in SJ. This leads to a culture of micromanaging the few bits and corners that are not being managed in detail from outside EMEA. At the same time, leaders are so busy with this micromanagement that they don't have the time to properly supervise their teams. Result: toxic behaviour all over the place. It's a terrible idea of leadership, and it shows. Great place for uncreative micromanagers who love to be left alone by their leaders.

Over 15 years ago in San Jose the word "week" was a fireable offense when discussing a schedule. It was a problem when checking a single line of code while following the ISO9000 processes could take 1-2 months. The reason it took so long is because many managers were coaching their protégés to write code and check it in without even trying to compile it. and the branches were typically broken for that length of time.
