Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Why Bangalore?

Why did EM pick Bangalore as an oilfield engineering center. It is the Silicon Valley of India, not remotely related to oilfield expertise. Very stupid decision.

@2khu+1q3ZPDoS did you mean "BangaLOTmore" where you can a nice piece of a$$ really cheap................even cheaper than their IT workers?

The downside is you will end up spending a lot more in the long run trying to cure the funky diseases you will acquire from the great bargain you got........just like when we outsourced some of our IT services!!!!!!

We also need to get one of those signs above the bathroom door that flashes “didn’t wash hands”

Agree that a no perfume and cologne and no body odor and no bad breath policy is required

I like BangAlot every time I visit. They reproduce most of the hotties and a lot cheaper than the ones found at LaPoonta/LaQuinta

There is an impat BTC employee in my group in Spring.

He overdosed on some kind of Indian cologne that could gag a maggot.

Spring campus needs to enforce a no cologne/perfume policy because nobody will tell that id--t that we can smell him 100 feet away and for 1 hour after he left.

Horrific smell.

How about announcing that there would be no layoffs and turn around PIP people for honesty and integrity?

No honesty/no integrity. Hope no work will be done there related to safety. There you could buy your degree. Bribery is widely accepted.

Wearing antiperspirant is a good career move anywhere. I highly recommend avoiding having body odour.

We can all agree licking your fingers is disgusting.

Some people blow nose while talking and eating which is disgusting to others. Heck, some lick the ketchup or mustard off fingers and don’t bother washing hands. There’s plenty to pick on everyone and so, let’s chill!

Having made a couple of business trips now I have been shocked to observe the lack of hand washing. I googled it and apparently it is a cultural thing and they don’t like washing their hands. Makes me cringe every time I shake hands now.

@1tfc As opposed to the expensive labor with bad results they get in Spring?

Ever wonder why they opened Technology Centers globally? Cheap labor with cr-ppy results. I recall going to Budapest and they did not know that XOM was an Oil&Gas company. They really thought it was a Mobile Phone company.

Bangalore was chosen for 2 reasons:
1 low cost
2 far from any oilfield related city in India so nobody would know how toxic EM culture is

@OP Because it’s cheap, they speak English, and they have the basic skills to do what’s required of them. It’s not complicated.

India is the #1 fastest growing economy in the world.

We selected India as a Tech Center Hub because it will allow us to establish a long-term relationship with Indian Upstream, Downstream, and Chemical companies and allow us to expedite regulatory approvals from the government.

Nothing like having 2000 to 3000 citizens gainfully employed to open doors in any host country's government agencies.
