Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I Feel Bad For What AT&T Has Become

Going back to the days when AT&T was the parent company of The Bell System with its focus on public service and service excellence to now where it's really a daughter company spinoff (AKA Southwestern Bell) that's riddled with debt, decades of poor stock performance, a somewhat tainted reputation and
constant upheaval makes me sad.

they should of never been allowed to buy back the baby bells - they were broken up for a reason and it was nothing but payoffs and who is your buddy to let them buy back the baby bells.

buying them back was bad for everyone except the ceos and the boards. nothing else good came from it.

I treat it as a job. That’s all it is. It’s a job. I do my job every day and try to do a good job. As others have stated, I cannot fix or control what the folks at the top do, all I can control is what I do. My advice to others, do your job and try to do a good job for your own satisfaction. Don’t worry about the rest as there is nothing you can do about it. Don’t worry about trying to save the company money either, it doesn’t help you get ahead.

I don't feel bad at all since I don't make these bad decisions. I trade my time for a certain amount of money. As long as the check clears every two years I'll keep trading my time.

Obviously, you don't feel that bad when every 2 weeks that paycheck comes in. If it's that bad, you need to leave and stop spreading your toxic thoughts.

I will continue to cash AT&T checks for my labor and contribute to my 401K. I will continue to do my job because it is what pays our bills. (Pesky customers wanting communication services)

I will also continue to point out when 'leadership" is detrimental to those goals. I cannot sanction what Randy and John have done with this company. Nor can Wall Street.

Complaining about how it was so much better in the old days. Old and bitter.

Even the Elliott Group couldn’t right the clown show.

Yes. The Elliot Group bought about 3 Billion worth of AT&T stock and identified that AT&T was way, way too top heavy. After some time Elliott cut their losses with AT&T.

That should tell you something. It doesn't tell you that Stankey is the smartest man in any room.

Make sure my check is in the bank on time. We got rid of Randy, but it took way too long.

Now we have Stankey.

The SBC clown show and three ring masters of Mr Ed, Randy, and The Stink have together destroyed decades of communications industry shareholder value from the original Bell System and their wireless companies not to mention their destruction of TW. Even the Elliott Group couldn’t right the clown show.

You said it brother, the no talent Dallas c suite is all about lining their own pockets. My guess is they are shining up this pig and looking to sell it off... just another pump and dump since that is all the so called leaders do well. Never see them making smart moves just knee jerk after the fact decisions that make it worse. Leave if you can so they will finally be left holding the bag of you know what!

Just make sure my paycheck clears the bank. Nothing more, nothing less. I'll let the "leadership" clowns deal with their problems. There is not any problem I can solve since I did not cause any of the problems that AT&T has.

If the Stink does not care what Toxic-T has become, you should not either.

If the BoD does not care what Toxic-T has become, you should not either.

If the shareholders do not care and unseat the BoD and the Stink - then they deserve loosing their capital.

Just milk it for all you can, just like they do.

I'll clock in and do my job only so I can clock out at the end of the day. There is nothing I can do to correct the failures of "leadership".
I need to look out for me and my family.

Agree 1000%. SBC leadership if you so loosely define it as such under Stephenson. Stankey and a host of patriarchs was the demise of ATT and every other Bell they touched. Ameritech, PacBell were once industry darlings until the ego maniacs got promoted

This company used to be one of the top companies to work for....no place had innovation like Bell Labs..current top leadership is not even JV level, more like a poor Freshman team. Morale is at an all-time low and the company gets an F for shareholder value returns...the fact that Stanley and others make millions is criminal ..

Just go with the flow. Marketing invents features no one needs that don’t work. RSCs and CSRs slam it on unsuspecting and elderly customers. HR fires employees at the same time promoting the area managers. Network construction moves money around to help 3rd party companies partly owned by general managers and officers. Legal bails them out when they get caught. Training creates compliance training for everyone even though it was senior leaders that break laws. Then accounting and finance begin the smokescreen to cover up the mounting debt and lack of any real growth. #GrowTheBusiness

I have been milking the cow for years now. How can anyone respect the leadership(board included) of this company? They get on stages and tell you if you don't like it you can leave. Well everyone tried to tell you to stay away from DTV, TWX etc...Thought you were crazy for the TMUS breakup fee but all you leaders knew better. Let me give our leaders a heads up:
Employees in vast majority hate ATT.
Consumers hate ATT.
Wall Street hates ATT.
Just keep milking the cow and ringing the register as long as possible. Over the years I developed side hustles and a solid portfolio.
