I think people are anxious because they don't have a PLAN. Go through the different scenarios and determine what your next steps will be. Write it down. Refine it. Put some goals in place and take action. You will be so busy between that and your job that you won't have time to worry.

Better late than ever. You should be let go if you already personally know you are a below “target” performer. We don’t need you bringing down the boat.

Do you even know what the “target” is that you are below??

Of course, you are going to be fired! Suggest you use the 2 weeks you have to polish your CV.

Ford has certainly become Darwinian.

The over 50 with pensions are desperately trying to hang onto their jobs. The ruthlessness exhibited against coworkers is ever increasing. H1Bs are also desperate and exhibiting similar behaviors. 20% of new hires quit within a year after seeing the hostile culture and lack of opportunities.

It all centers around the Ford people leaders. Mismanagement and desperation go hand in hand. Both are most apparent during hard times, which always come around sooner or later.

As I conveyed below "There's nothing you can do but keep moving."

But..

I understand one being stressed especially if you are 50+ because it becomes difficult to find work because of age. Example: Ford is targeting people 50 + and that is age discrimination and it's happening! So for people below saying just find other work are naive unless you're in your 20's, 30's, 40's inherited old money, won the lotto...

When there's a large number of technical people being layoff at the same time then jobs in those fields become scarce.

The person under this post telling you "don't worry about it" is spot on ! And the other who left the company did it correctly and left the company !

There is no such thing as a career here, it is just a paycheck. If your job is so easily replaceable, your job is no more secure than the person at McDonald’s that is being replaced by Kiosks. Just remember we have GIThub, essentially doing the same thing. Maybe if you had a pension with the company as an employee prior to 2000, you could almost relate that to some kind of career, but these are handcuffs to those have remained here way too long.

Have you ever seen of these folks with a pension, OMG they are under such stress worrying about making 30 years. They are the ones that have to obey every rule and command as they have no other choice except here. On the other hand, those with a 401k plan need to realize this is an hourly job just like working on the assembly line, except you have to deal with putting in lots of free over time, no breaks and such nonsense-nonvalue add assignments coming down from management. Best is not to stagnate at anyone place and move every 5-7 years, so you have a diverse experience.

We are witnessing departments having several task force initiatives to measure our distain, see if we all understand the company direction and put together some joke of a pulse survey. Lets remember that this activity in on their goals sheet, so they can tell everyone how they did something spectacular - ha ha ha...

Management (LL4+) really need to get their head out of their keister, while L5 & LL6 jelly-fish really needs to get some guts / backbone to tell upper management that most of their initiatives are not working. If someone has a better way of doing their assignments and getting assignments done, let them work, but not this place - follow the processes. They can’t stand the thought of empowering the D&R's.

I've got idea: "GEMBA" Maybe just not getting off your duffs to go see the issues, try doing the work for a few hours so you have the full experience. It's easy and doesn't drive the message home that management really cares, not just hopping on the bus for some field trip. Do some paperwork to see where the D&R wastes their time, spinning their wheels in the bureaucratic mud as the fist step to get to the red tape meeting nonsense where the chief lack the guts on decision making.

We see you went to Texas and a couple other places to go and chat with the dealerships. Should have come talk to a few of my family members who can't seem to get their carts fixed who used my PIN to get the discount.

@OP I was where you are (mentally speaking, of course). There was a time when I was concerned with losing my job at Ford. While my position at Ford is not a great job, it is enough to bring the bacon home. At that's all that matter to me, especially in this economy.

Let me tell you that It is not a good feeling and it is not healthy to be stressed about it for long periods of time. The best way to go about it is to find another job (if possible). The next best thing is to be doing something to counteract the possible job loss. Stating the obviuos and not doing anything, is the worst thing you could do.

For the past 4 years, Ford has been shedding numbers. The lack of leadership is evident, and we (the workforce) are paying for the mistakes of the clueless and entitled C-suite. More layoffs are coming, and more jobs are going overseas. Nobody is safe at Ford long term, not even the Ford family, since the company can easily end in a big bankruptcy.

News flash for you and many others: no employee is safe in this economy, no matter in which company they work. We are all expendable, and many CEOs are willing to ruin the lives of their countrymen just to get a fatter bonus.

Therefore, no matter if your job is at Ford or somewhere else, you should strive for improving your skills and keep yourself up to date in your field. Work on your soft skills as well. Making sure you keep yourself "employable" is only half of the battle. The second half is to live below your means, save, invest, pay your debts. That way, you reduce your reliance on the paycheck, and on your employer.

Personally, I was stressed out after the 2019 SIRP (since they targeted older employees with a pension), compounded with the Covid-19 lockdowns in the following year. All that made really hard to find another job. Having every year afterwards, the threat of layoffs, was awful for my mental health. So I did the only thing it was in my hands: improve myself.

I started to pick up some lost skills, practicing the rusty ones, and I have a study plan in place. We have no debt. Our house, our credit cards, are paid off , as well my car (as of this month). My wife, a homemaker for over a decade, took a job at the beginning of this year, more for my concerns with the health insurance, than for money. If needed, my wife's salary and the money we received from our investments can sustain our style of living.

So how concern am I with layoffs? Not much. I still come to this site to check on things, but now once a week or less (I used to check it two or three times a day). I keep myself busy. I know I can get another job elsewhere (with less salary, more hours, that's why I haven't switched jobs yet), but I need to improve more if I want a better salary. My finances are finally in order, and my stress levels are low, so I can finally enjoy the Xmas week.

Good luck!

"Don't worry about it. Who cares about your job at Ford. It is just a paycheck. You can get another job anywhere. "

Another naive person (retired/LL6+) who is unaware what's happening in the economy or work force.

I don’t believe the “everything’s fine” Pollyannaisms coming out of the MSM. People are struggling to make ends meet. There’s too much month left at the end of the paycheck.

There's nothing you can do but keep moving. Management will continue to make a mess of everything with the endless flow of BS out of their mouths. Employees over 50 or with pensions will be targeted, non productive socially connected butterflies will remain, inexperience will be hired and promoted creating the panacea for Ford... Lol

There's changes coming next year in the beginning months of 2024 for all the automobile companies and there's nothing that can done because of the ignorant mistakes made by management and above.
