Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Government involvement

Why hasn’t the government had more conversation on banks moving US jobs to India and the troves of layoffs? We need more conversations on what banks are doing to their employees. The last Senate meeting for the most part only focused on basal.

I am waiting for management to take severance and possibly bonuses away. It is coming.

@dsw+1q81gnWv answer is spot on. It started as a way to strengthen 3rd world countries that couldn't accomplish anything on their own. However, once it started, execs realized it was a savings to their bottom line, and they were ecstatic. It is now not just a blow to American workers, but a matter of national security. The constant stream of fraud that all companies are facing is now just a cost of doing business. The question about putting non-citizens over citizens should be a standard question that all politicians need to answer, especially in the upcoming elections in 2024.

We all know how this ends because we’ve seen it in other industries and companies. Execs get all excited about off-shoring jobs because of cost savings, but they never look around the corner. They just go through the tactical moves as opposed to implementing a strategy. Here’s a forecast, our already beleaguered and dysfunctional bank can’t afford a decline in the quality of tech, controls, and business, but that’s exactly what will happen. With the continued offshoring of roles, very quickly there will be reports of identity theft, malfunctioning tech, issues not being closed on time, and other declines to the point that the blame will shift to the offshore and they will be reduced. If any of these execs actually utilized strategy or paid attention to history, other than being penny-wise and pound-foolish, we would all be in a better place.

"Why hasn’t the government had more conversation on banks moving US jobs to India and the troves of layoffs"?

The answer to this question is very disheartening. The fact of he matter is that decades ago when the outsourcing/off-shoring strategy was initiated the government was complicit in its inception. The thinking then was by moving U.S. jobs to the Third World workplaces these countries would be elevated to successful trading partners with the rest of the world. The newly hired populations would become eager purchasers of all the worlds consumer products and services. It was a win-win solution for everyone except the suddenly out of work U.S. workforce. This was started with the manufacturing sector and has now progressed to include the white-collar workforce as well.
Thus began the One World, No Borders society that sad to say our government is still trying to achieve.

I’ve gov doesn’t give a sh-t as it’s already controlled by corporate America, all credit bureaus use the worse 3rd world country workers who we have to give our ssn to. I also have to talk to Mr Patel when I call Chase, so it’s inevitable unfortunately.

Short answer: Wall Street is the main donors to politicians…. More jobs to India = more $$$ for firms = larger donation pools for pols…
