PINs for Family and Friends

I've heard so much about quality issue and wait times at dealers with new, nearly new, and used Fords. I wonder, does this make Ford employees want to keep thier PINs and family discounts for the sake of thier own reputation? Seems like until these quality and recall issues are ironed out you'd just be helping someone get a shiny new headache to deal with. In some cases, your dealership can make all the difference. But they can't control availability, warranty, and parts. They can only do so much.

There was a time I would use all of my PIN's, plus any additional allotments when Ford was trying to push more sales. You would even get an "Ambassador's Club" pat on the back recognition letter for promoting Ford products. Other than my own use, no one has asked for any in the last 4-5 years. Not a good trend.

I am surprised that family members are not asking for pins. Did they not hear from baumbick that Forportfolio? portfolio is the best in ford's existence and competitors wish they had the ford potfolio?

A friend mentions they are looking, I offer X-plan pin to save them a lot of money. They pick up the vehicle on Friday and Saturday they are upset. They have to take the vehicle to the dealer Monday morning. It was a rather simple fix but needless to say they aren't happy and I'm not either. We really need to fix our quality. Three years in a row with the most recalls. Its really hard to promote our products with so many quality issues. Hard to have pride and confidence in a company that can't deliver quality vehicles any more.

Made a PIN number, ended up canceling because family member found better deals without A plan at a competitor OEM. Pretty sad; even with Aplan the competitor OEM had a better deal. Our vehicles are overpriced… you cannot command the price of an entry luxury vehicle on that of a Ford. Customers do not and will not consider a Ford at what we are asking.

PINs for Family and Friends? I am not even sure that I am going to buy a Ford vehicle for myself.

In 2017 I decided to go with another manufacturer's vehicle, since Ford didn't have what my wife was looking for. A year and half ago, I was in the market for a new vehicle, and this time Ford had exactly what I wanted. However, the waiting times were in the months, and already some of the models were having extra delays, including the one I wanted. I ended going to another manufacturer for my current vehicle.

We already started to look again, since we are planning to get a new one for my wife next year. The first thing we noticed is that prices are sky high accross all manufacturers, and Ford is not the exception. However, when I looked at the recalls for the Ford models we are interested in, I changed my mind. Forget about rusty breaks and loose screws... some of the vehicles are recalled because they can catch fire!!! It seems we are going to go with another manufacturer again.

All I can think of is that this person failed to mention they stopped giving out PINS about 10 years ago. Everyone they know who continually praises them for helping them buy one has a Ford that's 10+ years old.

Always tried to use pins and told family to offer pins to their friends and co-workers. I sold many a Ford vehicles over the years. The fnf that bought the vehicles at savings were all so happy and continue to give me praise on their vehicles. This is a nice program for employees to use to help the company expand.

No one in my family or friends even asked me about PIN from Ford for the last 15 years.

I don't need it anymore.

I absolutely can’t stand when family members complain to me about their vehicle’s quality issues. As if I can fix their problem or personally designed the flawed vehicle. It is definitely a deterrent to give them a PIN or use one myself.

It would be a reputational damage to me if I recommend anything by big three at this stage. GM's blowing up V8s, timing chain on 3.6, HEMI's cam, Ford you name it.....

It would be a reputational damage if I don't discourage family members from buying!
