Honeywell CEO Says AI May Help Fill Skilled Worker Gap

Kapur says since there's a shortage of skilled workers in the industrial sector, either because of retirements or a lack of interest, Honeywell hopes AI will be a supplementary tool to help with productivity and reduce the pressure on skilled labor.

This thread really says more than the words in it. It is a microcosm of the current state of Honeywell. Reduce costs and make grandiose promises of future accomplishments. It becomes readily apparent that the supposed grift that is happening is true. No investment in growth, only promises of good things to come. I think a good step would be to "claw back" moneys from DA, JW, and others that behaved in a dishonest manor towards our stockholders and employees.

Heh, sure that there are no skilled workers if you leave them underpaid and then you fire them without replacement. Functional R&D team for whatever type of bussiness takes at least about 3-4 years to be usable and about 5-8 years to be experienced, effective and really productive.

If some managers assemble team from various strange people, put them on swing seats and time to time RIF 1/3 of the team, usually the most experienced, who can expect any functionality?

R&D team is long term investment and those experienced employees shall be valued well. But HWell is doing exactly the opposite.

Typical know nothing executive.

You have to hire skilled labor that knows how to do a process, then invest millions in AI and nural network programming experts (unemployment in that field is under 1%), and then maybe you will have an AI model able to do 1 process.

Skilled workers. No degrees or qualifications needed. You should see who they promote.

Learn as you go. The Honeywell motto. Well, if you go to my division you can see why they have so much rework. No qualifications needed. Just who you know, you wonder why we have an account with Boeing.

We have the same philosophy as they do. How many parts can we get out, let's streamline the processes. Boeing probably gets a discount every time we mis-orders. Safety means nothing of these companies.

Boeing honeywell's hiring. Send your management. Will send our management to you guys. You wonder why Honeywell and Boeing stock is dropping. No qualifications needed just push parts.

Honeywell, today, right now, works EXTREMELY hard to drive out anyone with even a shred of skills and industry knowledge. They have it down to an art. HR facilitates this. What VK REALLY means is- AI will allow Honeywell to ramp up the pace on driving out employees and thereby allowing for even bigger executive bonuses and pay.

The lack of skilled workers. When they wanted to relocate New Jersey Honeywell headquarters.

They made the same statement. They need to move to find skilled workers. Like there's no skilled workers in New Jersey.

Try giving people a cost of living raise. Better benefits too. You're using this excuse. In order, the move much if your company overseas. You're also using this philosophy. In order, to move more work to low-cost regions.

You even made a statement. Where you said you were going to get shareholder value up. Well this didn't happen either.

He probably means a shortage of skilled workers in the USA. I'm guessing the continuous cuts to US benefits may have something to do with it.

I assume an excuse to ramp up production outside of the US or divest product lines.

Honeywell would do best with AI as a way to reduce the "worker overhead" that Honeywell places on its employees. Honeywell seems to continually load it's skilled employees with all kinds of extra stuff that is not part of their skill set. AI is only able to create with pre-existing knowledge. AI's creation of new knowledge has been severely lacking. When AI can do decent humor, my opinion of it may change.
