Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Get rid of useless managers!

Yes, I know there are plenty of good, even great managers at BNY Mellon, but there are just as many who are horrible, have no idea what they're doing, and are trying to convince others they do know their stuff in all the wrong ways. I'm tired of having to do extra work that adds no value to the company because my manager keeps pushing it on me thinking it's going to make him look good. It will not! It's wasting my and my team's time for nothing and it's driving me nuts. How is he still employed?

If they were gone who would monitor the badge swipes and time reports. Sad that the company is losing good people over pointless policies.

@1vcn, try doing a better job as a manager instead of being on here snooping on what employees have to say about this shitshow of a company. If you are a manager, which based on your comment it seems you are maybe you should consider the cr-p employees have to go through just to make it through a day without burning out.

There are more useless employees than managers. And before you keep bashing mgmt trying looking at HR policies. Most don’t allow us to address or enforce much of anything these days . If employees actually did their job , there wouldn’t be issues

All managers learn how to manage as baptism under fire. That’s how I learned, and have managed at four banks. There is no other way to learn to manage.

Managers have very, very little power anyway. They're FORCED to take certain employees and pretty much just shovel requests from above down to the trenches without asking for justification or adjustment to deadlines for our commitments.

The fault lies with BNYM. People get promoted to management positions with no training and no every year monitoring. There should be a process similar to teachers where you’re on a 3-year probation (reviewed annually) to determine if you qualify for a management position.

My previous manager falls into this category. She was a control freak who made everyone who reported to her a living he-l. It was miserable working for her and I can only imagine there are plenty more managers just like her at this place.
