Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

4 week periods - 3x a week

So we’re all having to come in 3x a week, or 60% of any given 4-week period. Well I ‘say’ we all are, but looking around that’s definitely not happening in my location. But my manager keeps our team to 3x a week in office for sure. But why is it such a mystery when the 4 week periods start/end? I know they’re not communicating to trip is up and give them a reason to let us go, but c’mon BNYM let us know what’s expected of us. A moving target of rolling 4 week periods is ridiculous. For example, next rolling 4 weeks starts tomorrow?

The executives are never happy, unless they are sc--wing over us employees by taking away another benefit & money out of our pockets… Just think if they channeled all of that energy & hatred towards the employees into actually implementing all of their garbage they constantly spew about the people pillar. They would have a much better running and functioning company - the stock price might even go up

Our employees are never so happy as when they’re getting over on the in office days rules. Imagine if they channeled this creativity towards work. We would have a lot more Managing Directors and a whole lot more well paid employees.

Pre Covid you were in 5 days a week.

Nope. Been hybrid for 15 years

No manager can make different rules, it’s managed by a Dashboard at the top level. Just go to the office 4 Days for managing directors, 2 days for Agile Flex and 3 days for everyone else. Pre Covid you were in 5 days a week.

Be glad you aren't tech with the 20 days per 3 months that they measure over 90 days out of laziness. They measure every 4 weeks so we will have 13 periods per year to comply with.

It proves how non-transparent it is that people cannot come to an agreement on this board when this period’s dates are.

I find it hard to believe they’re going to enforce three days a week even for the permanently, remote workers… In CAO, it is crazy, how many people are based at home… Most of which are high-level employees and some hired within the past six months to a year

New Rto being announced in February which is probably why the dashboard or 4wk period for managers isn’t working. They’re in the processing of rolling out a dashboard each employee sees of themself.

New rules are 3/week no matter what. Anyone BAH within 50 miles of an office will also be forced to come back in.

OP, not “we’re all..”
A lot of people including myself are 100% remote and never get out of their pj’s.

This entire process has just proven there is a level of two of management that contribute no actual work to the company aside from monitoring and micro managing where the actual people that do the work are. If there was no tracking there would be nothing for them to do.

How do people even get any work done when all levels of the Bank are focused on ever changing inane time tracking interruptions

To those stating 1/21 is wrong and it started 1/1 - so the dashboard is wrong then?? It still states it started 12/24, which would make 1/21 correct

Ask your manager. Unless they're a whole they'll share with you

1/29 starts the new period, not 1/21

@2nry

Everyone who is saying a new cycle starts 1/21 is incorrect. The 2 week period from 12/18-12/29 was dropped and sr mgmt started back up a new cycle starting 1/1. This was comfirmed to managers by sr mgmt.

I don’t know about that. I generally liked my manager but it was easy to tell whenever she was on the RAG status.

My manager has shown me the the table multiple times. I have also had to use the WFA days to fix previously yellow charts to turn them green again. It takes a new 4 week rotation to show up in the previous cycle. We should be starting a new 4 week schedule this week 1/21. All it tracks is your badge swipes.

WFA for one doesn't count as a day in the office. It is merely subtracted from your overall workdays for the month, whereas sick day, vacation day, holiday, etc., is subtracted from your weekly three-day requirement.

You need to use 5 WFA days in a row to get 3 days exemption from the office.

The reports are generated monthly around the 23rd of the month. The status is only shown for that month as Red, Amber, or Green. If you need to be in 3 days a week that assumes 60% of working days. Holidays, Vacation, Sick, Work from Anywhere, or ad-hoc exceptions all get removed from the total number of working days. If you are off-track (Amber or Red) for multiple periods, you can be subject to disciplinary action, including termination for cause (no severance or unemployment).

The best are those managers that make different rules depending on how much they like you.

Starts are Sunday if people go in on the weekend

1/21 to 2/17
2/18 to 3/18
And so go

Some managers do not like to discuss this information because they want people coming in weekly. Some do their required days in a row and stay home the rest of the time until the next cycle.

It's confusing on purpose so it can be used against you if you slip up, or if they need a scapegoat. "Show me a man and I'll find a crime".

I never saw a report I also reached out to the hr portal and asked specifically if holidays vacations and work from anywhere days counted as in in office days. I was told that any excused absence counted for example if there was a holiday I only needed to be in the office twice that week. Despite having this in writing I was still told I was off model. I was constantly told different answers from various levels of management. The whole tracking system is a mess many just swipe and leave or stay til lunch and leave.

The period started after new years. Today was the end of week 3. Each period is 20 business days. 60% is the requirement. Holidays, vac days, sick days, work anywhere all reduce the period length.

@zgh+1qEDmyXe

Then it’s not “rolling”, it’s static. For example, in a rolling 30 days model, “today” is always Day 30, looking back on the previous 29 is the period.

Shocking, a lying or non-transparent manager here? Our manager gives no visibility to the reporting dates or the RAG status.

@wmm

The reporting period doesn’t work like that.

There is no “dropping off” of weeks.

Post ID: @zgh+1qEDmyXe

What’s so hard to understand about “rolling”? Every week the most distant week (5 weeks prior) drops off. Simple.

Then they are lying to you. Each manager gets a report after each cycle as well as the dates.

If working M-F next cycle starts 1/29.
