Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Headcount and LR

Question: when people say that 18K will be LRed, then does that number include red badges or just blue badges? When we say Cisco’s headcount is 80K then, does that include the red badges too?

Newish to Cisco, hence trying to figure out the number gymnastics here.

Cisco has about 40k red badge employees. These folks are not part of the ~85k Cisco headcount aka blue badges. A red badge can be cut anytime without notice but usually Cisco gives them 2 weeks notice that their contract is canceled or wont be renewed. A red badge can come back to Cisco without a waiting period. A blue badge has to wait 6 months before coming back as a blue badge or a contractor else they will have to pay back some of the severance they got when they were LR'ed.

"80K (or there abouts) is Blue badges and the 10's thousands in Reds."

it's 85k Blue badges and that does not include the 9000 Splunk employees

Red badges do not get LR'd .... they are not cisco employees. Their contracts do not get renewed

Red badges are not headcount nor are they included in layoff numbers.
