FORGET about Prayers 🙏🏻🙏🏻& Hope, full recipe for success is below:

“I kiss the you-know-what of my LL6 and LL5 - and even my LL4 when I get the chance. I laugh at their jokes, I talk trash about the people they dislike, and I basically repeat their ideas back to them - but just different enough to make sure they believe that my idea is aligned with their idea.

And I've been coming in to the office at least three days a week - and always on the days when my LL5 or LL4 are going to be there. And I stay until they leave. I get a lot of 'face time' that way.

It's not something to be proud of, but it has gotten me into the leadership development program. I'll be placed into an LL6 role upon completion of my rotations.

It usually gets me a top achiever ranking. And I expect that this time around for sure.

I wouldn't say I hold my head high or feel like a man in front of my wife and children, but I am bringing home a very nice paycheck and have a fair amount of job security in an otherwise shaky company.

It may sting a bit at first, but you all might want to consider doing things this way at work.

This may be downvoted, but I'd rather live like this than be laid off.“

"...but you all might want to consider doing things this way at work." If it's worth it to them of course. I'm really not good at being disingenuous. If you've gotten good at the game and want to continue to play it of course that's your choice. People lie to their bosses all the time and if you're playing by the rules they set out for you then this is apparently what they want from you. "Face time" to me is worthless given what my goals are so I don't make it a priority. The only goal my employer needs to know about is that I'll continue to be an employee as long as it suits us both. Anything above and beyond that is irrelevant to them (even though they have their own reasons for trying to find out).

How can you say that you don't feel like a man in front of your wife and children?

That paycheck had better be worth it to you - and your wife and children.

"...but I'd rather live like this than be laid off."

If Ford was the only employer out there, that'd be accurate...but this isn't the score of the game here. What this translates to (at least to me) is that kissing behinds is more tolerable than branching out and finding something else. Which is fine if you see things as either it's Ford or being laid off....it su-ks to have to look at employment that way...but ok.

Whew..well I can say more power to you. I just have never been that way and the inner struggle of going against my nature would likely cause me to quit anyway if I had to do that. I guess my thing is I don't feel I have to....I guess if you feel you'd rather do that then work somewhere where this isn't required, or live within the means where this advancement isn't required (lifestyle inflation), then it is what it is. LL6 isn't a requirement or even an aspiration for me. But maybe giving 0 F's is my super-power. Either way we all gotta do what we gotta do I guess. Works for me.

Hopes and prayers??? Calm down, this is only a perf review. Save you hopes and prayers for mass shooting - that’s the American way. Try working if you want to change your stars.

Don't know for sure. Just not counting on it. Doesn't mean I didn't work for it, but if you don't live like your getting it then you don't have to be disappointed if it doesn't happen. Life isn't fair, and given how much of a backwards universe Ford can be...why bother worrying?

That may not get you chopped. In past layoffs we’ve seen well respected top performers walked out while slackers were kept. Who knows how they decide who stays and who goes but from what we’ve seen there’s more to it than performance.

If you’re final PR rating is (30%) below target, three bad (key) actions will most likely occur:

  1. You are indeed identified in the next wave of salary employees being targeted for firings in 2024.
  2. No bonus $ zero for you
  3. No merit raise 0.0 % for you
  4. Probably put on the PIP plan at mid year if you do make it that far.

"Don't care if I get a bonus or not either. Likely won't"

How do you know you aren't getting a bonus?

I'm actually not worried at all. I've made arrangements not be at the mercy of anyone that gets butt-hurt because of a lack of rear end kissing or whatever. Takes some preparation, but it makes for a good night sleep once you're there. Don't care if I get a bonus or not either. Likely won't. The one super power you have is to not care. Some people come back with..."it must be nice..." or some other cr-p. Must be nice to what...actually have your cr-p together and priorities set? Yeah...as a matter of fact it is. I'm just not good with having to take whatever others have planned for me. I'll deal with it until it stops working out in my favor. Always be prepared to walk away.
