Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Make this LR more Effective!

Consider reducing/consolidating the management layers rather than focusing on individual contributors. We have managers who need to be fed, and we have managers for the managers of the managers for the managers of the managers …

Our manager has a side business and only took this job to - like many managers at Cisco - NOT WORK!

That is the point the post was making. Our Directors don't do that today. They Manage and don't Direct

They set zero to no direction on products but act like heroes.

With reasoning like this I have a hard time believing you're not already a director.

Work for a well run competent company and you'll understand the need to have people at different levels taking on different scopes of responsibility, and how coordination and communication both horizontally and vertically must be managed to insure you have cohesive and effective products. Scaling development from a box to a wide range of boxes that work together is itself an exercise in systems development, and if there are two things Cisco can't do it's systems and development.

Fran and MM with their absolutely junk linkedin posts and a bunch of id--ts liking their posts tells everything. Earlier that guy from security Jeetu posted something about his 20 learnings. You a-s you have done nothing but acquire companies.

And still we have 1 VP and 5 directors reporting to them and each director with 5 managers reporting to them. So my question is what qualifications does one need to be a director? What's asked in interviews? They set zero to no direction on products but act like heroes.

Cisco Leadership needs to called out on their lies!!! Especially Chuck and Fran, but for the last year now, Scott seems to be looking the other way now too. We promote to investors how some areas are doing well, when at the same time we are cutting people in those areas.

People no longer matter in Cisco, it is all about the bottom line and filling the Executive pockets. Just because we say people are important, doesn't make it so. People continue to be taken advantage of no matter how the Executive spin it and try to brainwash us.

We have managers who's only job is to have 1:1 with the direct reports. Now why would you want such trash bloating the organization ? The sad part is they make the list and decision and noone wants to lay themselves off. We got directors who think attending meetings in a day is work without bringing back anything of value

You mean senior directors with no authority and 1 or 2 reports.
Yeah it would be good if we invest in some AI to detect these and just sack them.
Wait who needs AI for this, just give the directory structure to a toddler.. and he/she/whatever can do it.

Anyone in the PMO - your team is a bunch of buffoons. The ones in the US think they are actual HR managers (not remotely close) and couldn't tell you critical path from critical condition. mx PMs don't even warrant the coordinator tag because they can't even do that. bgl "technical" people are useless beyond hitting the enter button on reports. Too many directors with no reports, but they need an admin. Of course the ELT is oblivious to anything other than dei garbage and checkbox hires or promos. csco is 3com/ODS/DEC all over.

Consider laying off 90% PMs

PMs at Cisco are email copiers
