Prepare for disappointment

Bonuses will start to be discussed on Wednesday. Prepare yourselves to be underwhelmed. Bonus payouts are NOT in line with the past. Obviously, managers can calibrate things and lessen the impact on individual employees. But it's been reported on here that bonuses will be flat compared to last year. I'm here to tell you - they are not. This site should be very interesting in the coming days.

This is a given, unfortunately.

Bonuses pool was similar to last year. Unless after all of the work we put in they reduced it and aren’t going to let department managers know until tomorrow. Which wouldn’t surprise me

@mwi

The real question should be, "Why do minions always have to take a haircut, but CEO and execs don't?"

CS's performance is abysmal and yet, not only does he get a seemingly guaranteed bonus, the bonus amount is obscene and keeps increasing!

I hope someone asks him that during Town Hall. Decades ago, CEOs used to take cuts alongside their employees. Things are so out of whack now.

I really don’t think they give any of this thought. There goal is reduction in cost but not there pockets. So everyone can think that they think you are valued. Your managers might. They don’t care. They can replace you. A lot of what we do in technology i catering to someone’s special request or big idea which creates bloat. They will just go without. So for me having a job is good enough. Bonuses are now variable and you are not entitled to it. For the younger people you will probably live to see the end of variable compensation.

Looking forward to seeing the file tomorrow. They asked my team to do more with less and then rewarded them by slashing bonus.

The only way this nonsense is real would be as followed. The OP named their name and LOB so they we can co firm they are in any sort of compensation decision making authority. The answer is probably no. They heard this from a buddy 7 down manager who’s team got hosed. Get a life

"..bonuses will be flat compared to last year. I'm here to tell you - they are not"

So you are saying it is less than last year as an overall pool?

To be fair, Wells compensation has historically been top of the industry. The idea that you predetermine what someone’s bonus will be when they apply for the job is wild. So yeah our bonus will be based on what the industry dictates for the role and company performance.

Not the biggest fan of the job sometimes but you’ll be hard pressed to find better comp in the industry

operating committee can cut at anytime so while various orgs may have submitted numbers that were flat overall to last year, operating committee can come in and reduct by however much they want. In the past however managers would usually get warning and be asked to trim by whatever %.

So bonuses are expected to be 8% of salary or less?

That seems like a very big blanket statement. Maybe some orgs were flat and some are much lower. Doesn’t it depend on on how the org did?

@zcc+1qIUZLxQ well when the desired goal is attrition to avoid severances..

A billion to TD Jakes and a few billion to ‘underserved communities’ wiped out your bonus. Don’t you feel virtuous?

More sticks and less carrots to drive attrition.

So, smaller bonuses for most?

Strange that Wells would think that reducing one's pay will result in greater productivity.

It won't.
