Now that it's official that Des Moines isn't long for this world as a WF hub, what are everyone's thoughts?
Good or bad for the company, and why?

Cedar Rapids IA is next on the list to eliminate the entire headcount.. I have no proof but they are not backfilling any positions in the building. Des Moines is a HUB. If you don’t move a HUB you can’t get promoted.
I find it hard to believe Des Moines is on its way out considering the massive renovations they’re doing floor by floor.
CL is very present and growing.
Not a hub for good reason. Not much talent there, just wf corrupt managers from the old regime.
The lack of reading comprehension is astounding. Des Moines isn't going anywhere. The world is not CSBB. When CL announced you can guarantee that DM will be on the list.
At some point if you're not growing you are costing the company money.
Phase 2 of location strategy is getting rid of the hubs. They'll close one by one until it's just Hudson Yards and I&P, that's still a few years out though. Next 2-3 des Moines will be fine. Mostly.
Not surprised at all. I hate to generalize like this, but there is no talent left there. Anyone with an ounce of talent and future has left already. The remaining deadwood is waiting for their severance.
It’s LOB based, Tech is still hiring in Des Moines.
Considering WF sold 2 properties in West Des Moines at a huge loss, investing to increase property value makes no sense.
Look at how many senior execs are in Des Moines. Nobody above the M5 level. That is saying something about investment and significance of the location.
Des Moines isn't going anywhere for a long time. At least another 10 years. They own that entire campus and I believe they are investing in it.
“Des Moines is among a short list of locations where the bank will no longer hire new roles, nor backfill people leaving.
That means the headcount will continue shrinking in DM until the campus is shuttered.“
Nope wrong. That list was the enterprise location list. The “grow, specialty, maintain” designation was for CSBB only. Other LOBs will have different designations for the markets
I have honestly never had a thought about Des Moines. It's completely irrelevant imo.
Do you guys not know about the entire campus that is shaped as a W F? Good luck getting rid of Iowa
It is a core location for WIM. Charlotte, Dallas, Des Moines, Minneapolis, New York, phoenix , St. Louis & Salt Lake City were announced on teamworks as the core markets for WIM. It depends on the line of business where the cores will be.
Low pay, low IQ, weak labor laws: flyover states are America’s India…so no, DSM isn’t going anywhere
I love how the hayseeds on here will believe every single apocalyptic layoff claim unconditionally, but this is where they draw the line 🤣
As someone finally pointed out, what was posted on TW is only for CSBB. OP trying to rattle people up or lacks reading comprehension
@apd Exactly!
CSBB only said Des Moines wasn’t a hub for them. No other LOBs have made that announcement.
Where can I find this on teamworks? What day was it posted?
My department called DSM a hub back in 2021 but honestly we haven’t been hiring new people there in quite some time. This isn’t surprising.
It stinks because we have so much great talent in DSM but at the same time it was the odd hub location. It’s not necessarily a major or growing metropolitan.
I think the idea is to maintain a presence in places that young people would relocate to.
You poor thing, you're in denial.
DM is for sure on its way out. Won't happen this year, but it's coming in the next few years.
Layoffs and attrition will solve the current overage problem.
As to remodeling etc, that makes the property more valuable when it eventually hits the market. It's not a reflection that the location is here to stay.
Again, this is all on Teamworks. It's not conjecture.
DSM is at or over capacity. There are people who have remained WFH because there is no place to put them. Likely reason behind not hiring or back filling. They've put millions in campus updates/expansion. That place is hub... thinking it will be shuttered is laughable.

This was posted on TW not that long ago.
Not true. Show evidence.
