Crazy! This is what I’m about to do.. 45% of my take home pay at the bank goes directly to childcare and fuel.

Got an offer as a team lead at a retail store 2 miles from my house making 80% of my pay at the bank- flexible hours so childcare expenses won’t be necessary.

It’s sad when a corporate desk job is harder to make a living than a retail store.

It’s all about supply and demand. As long as there is someone willing to do your job (such as yourself) for the salary they are giving you, they aren’t going to raise it.

If you want a better wage, quit and find a better paying job.

@1tmb+1qKl2Hvf - or rather than subsidizing Child Care, they could just f*cking pay us a decent wage!!

How about THAT?

Agreed, although there are really two sides to this story.

On one hand, yes — so many people confuse WFH with child care. I remember 15 years ago when I signed up for the MyWork program, I actually had to sign a document and there was a line item that mentioned the program was not a substitute for child care.

The MyWork program was supposed to mirror your actions in the office (the ONLY difference being your work location). If you were in the office working, you wouldn’t be taking care of your kids. So if you’re working remotely, you also shouldn’t be taking care of your kids. Companies don’t pay you not to work.

But on the flip side, and to play the devil’s advocate, I know someone paying a nanny $2600 a month for one kid, but that only equates to $15/hour (8 hours a day, 40 hours a week) for the nanny. The nanny needs wages to live, too.

Child care is sooooo expensive. Companies should be offering more benefits to cover child care costs, so that parents can focus on work. I know lots of people who have given up work because the cost of child care exceeds the cost of their salary. Unfortunately, not everyone has a second income or spouse that allows them the luxury of doing so.

look...im as bummed out as the next guy about the ridic RTO policies and stuff, but dont confused WFH with childcare. It can certainly create flexibility in pick up and drop offs, but if you are thinking to WFH + babysit, then find another job. Don't ruin the hard work and merit of those that bust their ar-e working WFH.

Anyway i agree, without much raises and automatic adjustments to market, the middle class continue to dwindle.

Irony….. this company needs to get out of its own way with antiquated work policies and grab a CEO younger than a pop pop.

Yep. With the new mandatory rto I can name (but won’t) at least 9 that have resigned. Some aren’t sure what they will do yet, others will become a single paycheck to support the family.
