I was being sarcastic because I did look it up… Google shows the high on March 31, 2000 was $77.

Cisco could neither make their own equipment work nor deploy it in house correctly so I suppose it's no surprise they don't know anything about any other part of the Internet. I wish I was being sarcastic.

From finance.yahoo.com:

March 27, 2000:

Open: $81.44
High: $82.00
Low: $79.06
Close: $80.06

October 8, 2002:

Open: $9.21
High: $9.21
Low: $8.12
Close: $8.60

The 12 cents is a 0.16% rounding error on the $73.88 drop between the high and low so we'll give it to them.

I lived through both at Cisco and these numbers were a topic of great discussion.

@2rjx+1qLMMGfC, When was the stock $82?

Outsourcing has destroyed the morale...

The stock going from $82 to $8 destroyed morale. Cisco has been acquiring for 30 years because it couldn't develop effectively in the US. Many failed development efforts in the US migrated offshore in the hopes that maybe someone else might be able to make them work. Instead Cisco trained everyone else to be as bad as those in the US. Both India and China have far more companies certified at CMMI level 5 so those countries have developers who can deliver on time and on budget repeatedly. These aren't the kind of people Cisco hires in any country and those of us in the US who have worked at companies that can reliably deliver on time and on budget are horrified at what we saw at Cisco, and not just in the past two decades.

Cisco offers good internal training courses in coding, python, cloud and networking technologies.
Make use of it and grow your knowledge.
Other companies limit and do not offer as many courses like Cisco.
Cisco is still #1 or 2 in routing, switching , WLAN and many other technologies.
Outsourcing has destroyed the morale. many old timers who are not good coaching managers or directors without good leadership will fall apart.

I know many civilians in my parent's generation as well as my own who supported high end electronic warfare systems in foreign countries as the bo--s rained down.

The newer generation is whining that they might be forced to get a better job for better pay.

I'm beginning to understand how we got from Reagan's strong "tear down this wall" to the Soviet Union to Trump's effete "he wrote me beautiful letters and we fell in love" to North Korea's Kim Jong Un.

I just read in a stretch assignment "space" about someone who was laid off state, "please keep in touch and do remember me for any opportunities to join the cisco band". I see a lot of this and I don't get it....I really don't. This person was just laid off and they are wanting to come back for more? Someone needs to help me understand...
