A lot of ineffective and unqualified managers have been hired in the CISO organization in the past few years. Morale is low and controls are going downhill. How long before the regulators figure this out. Good luck finding a CISO who can turn things around.

To take a few words from earlier posts, tech skills are missing, accountability is missing, managerial incompetence and a hostile work environment all across.

The worst are the Managers two levels down from CISO.

Not one manager up and down the chain should be a manager. Ever. Most of such positions are based on who you know. And HR for this org makes up its own rules. Pretty sad. There is absolutely no vision and most managers come and go in a year or two.
Lastly 90% of all job postings are based in India.

The boss and reports got a bonus of 25-35%, while team members came away with 5-10%.

What is going on?

CS department has hired quite a few very low quality management and senior management in the past 3 years. They work in sillos , have zero communication, and leadership skills. Their cyber security domain knowledge is also severely lacking to non existent . Between this toxic management and the push to outsource all work to egs, the department is a total s#/*$how. Best of luck to whoever accepts this role.

"Coincidental timing that CISO went within a week of the RSA pin reset."

CISO's departure was announced months ago and had zero to do with the RSA-issue.

In order to get the ciso job in WF you have to meet a certain criteria one you have to be Indian and not willing to take responsibility for your own failings and two you have to make sure that it's always everyone else's fault that you don't look good and you don't succeed. Most importantly you need to accept the fact that you're not really here to do any real security enforcement because you will never be given funds to actually implement proper security... Let's be honest every other major organization is going away from passwords and using other up-to-date security software packages but this place is reliant on 15 to 20 year old technology only because the people calling the shots originally designed all this stuff 15 to 20 years ago before Windows came out with host based firewalls in their own antivirus system... You can't make changes when the managers in cybersecurity still have to micromanage their employees and create hostile work environments because they are no longer relevant in the field that they're supposed to be involved with and all their friends big came up with at the bank left them so now they are a sinking boat hoping that some manager who has more knowledge than them doesn't discover their outdated and irrelevant and need to be forced out.

They probably realize Shart is an A hole and a short timer. Once he's gone his cronies,. sycophants, and knob gobblers will be sacked by the next regime so taking that job now is just silly.
