How is the Bakken? I was offered a job there but don’t know or hear much about it.

Dead end position and location, proceed with caution
Bakken is for sale. If you transfer to North Dakota, make sure that you have a path back to Houston if the Bakken's is sold sooner than later.
Beyond the weather. Where are you coming from? You coming from Houston , culture shock. My one insight on the place is the chain of command , who are not locals but Xom transfers. Not all but most. Some of those guys need to retire. If you have someone you know up there I would figure out who your manager would be. It’s one thing to deal with the weather but the folks running the show are cowboys.
