Not surprised on the National market layoffs for sales and technical sales. I wish you all well and sorry this happened to you. The market reorg that occurred a few years ago and created the National Market was Rob Thomas's idea. He wanted to invest in the whitespace accounts. Unfortunately, some were placed in this market with unreasonable quotas. A lot of these people were very talented. IBM has different buzzwords for the types of accounts one is assigned to.

Got also impacted today, Expert Labs US.

gone is gone no matter how the message comes. At least you got a one on one .You could have said your piece. They could have just collected your badge at the door and said gtfo.

Technical specialists in the national market effected as well.

I was let go today. Can't confirm the numbers. But it impacted me..

IBM does not care about you. I don’t care how important you think you are. I was an IBM’er for almost 20 years and they dropped me like a bad habit. I made them a lot of money and vise-versa. Just remember.. don’t fall in love with IBM because they are the ultimate player and will dump you once you start to feel like you will be together forever. They have no love for you or anyone. IBM is a machine. It’s not human. It’s a machine and is driven by money and metrics. People do not matter.. there will always be someone else that they can promote or hire if they need to replace you. Unless your boss is named Rob Just or Arvind, don’t trust anything that your manager says. They have no clue.

How does IBM inform you are going to be layed off? If you had not given IBM your updated home address due to a recent move, how can they mail you a notice in the mail and know you received it? A manager telling you while you are at work, they are laying you off is cold hearted. This happened to me and several of my coworkers. Our manager hoodwinked all of us when he pulled this on us at work. He wanted to catch us by total surprise. In my case, manager came up to me out of site from behind and told me to follow him into a meeting room because he wanted to talk. No one was in meeting room like a HR rep. While manager was delivering the news that I would be layed off I believe he was enjoying it. I looked him in the eye and saw he had a smirk on his face and realized he was enjoying the moment. I talked to the others that the manager layed-off. They all said manager had smirk on his face when he was delivering the news to them too that they were being layed off. As a group we wanted to write a statement and collectively sign it, stating how this manager mistreated us all during these individual meetings with him. But then we realized no other senior managers or Leaders at our company would care how we were treated by our manager, so we did not write and sign a statement. We were also informed by our manager, if we refused to sign a statement that we would not file an age or discrimination complaint with the State agency our manager said our company would appeal our getting unemployment benefits. This was a real eye opener what our company was really like and would allow our manager to treat us the way he did.

This company is impossible to have a career with. Statistically, you are not likely to make it. Not only that but the treatment they give you is horrible. I would recommend younger people stay away, however I also recognize that many don't have a better choice. Bad, bad energy in this company.

I will take the 'bloodbath!/massive!' comments a little more seriously as soon as someone can list even a single geo + business group/product that's getting hit.
