Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Any sense on the impact on SBG R&D Teams?

Are there any rumors about the impact on the Security's feature R&D teams? Given JP's enthusiasm for suites and the recent deals closed there, one would hope that the areas responsible for expansion are relatively safe. However, it's plausible that supporting areas within those organizations could be affected. What are your thoughts?

Splunk has nothing to do with any current SBG products. It's a SIEM and not a web proxy or firewall or any of that

Splunk will be the new kid on the block, nobody will care about most of the other SBG products this time next year.

To clarify my previous post…
20% only can be Critical to Retain
Unspecified amount can be marked as “Desire To Retain”.
And the rest can be left as N/A.

The last group is of the highest risk for LR’s. That’s like the bottom ~10%.

There is no telling how HR will pull from the grab bag to make LR lists. No way did I mean to imply that 80% of SBG would be LR’d. Only that we can mark 20% as Critical to Retain… aka don’t LR these people for sure.
Folks from The Desire to Retain bucket would still be a huge hit and would hurt.
I think they are really just trying to add more intelligence to their list making is all.

@1mll+1qOpH9L6, they said they wanted to ensure that the top 20% employees are marked "Critical to Retain" to make sure that they're not on the LR list. How does that mean that the other 80% are being LR'd? It just means that the other 80% are "at risk", which is pretty much everyone at Cisco.

If you're highly compensated and not on the critical to retain list, you're a big target.

@1fpp+1qOpH9L6 20%? so the other 80% are laid off? You must be joking.

SBG will take its biggest hit ever. Sharpen up those resumes.

@hrg+1qOpH9L6 So you’re telling me Cisco spent a significant amount of time/money to rearrange products in to suites just to abandon it a year in? And who says Cisco licensing is confusing /s

SBG Managers were asked last week to go into workday and mark their top 20% employees that are “Critical to Retain” by Friday. I suspect so that HR doesn’t have anyone on their LR Lists that are imperative to keep the business running.

Suites will be eliminated with the advent of splunk. I would anticipate significant staff level changes with this as well.

Security will be number one LR target with Splunk coming to Cisco.
