It's always calm before the storm and you are about to get banged like an open storm door in the middle of a hurricane.

Stay vigilant my little hombres.

OP, unless Darren starts laying off people in India and China where most of the employees are now, you won't hear about layoffs. There's nobody left in Europe and NA to be laid off. Everybody 's gone by now. You only see temporary contractors now. The employees are mostly gone.

Layoffs are built into the EM culture now.

PIP

The system is not fair. A person can be PIPd for political reasons, personal reasons, or just because they transferred at tge wrong time or to the wrong group.

Very rarely is someone PIPd where there is actual performance issues.

Also PIP is not applied across the corporation evenly. A person in Spring can be PIPd even though performing more work than two BTC employees, yet the two BTC employees not PIPd. You can say that is economically motivated, but then call it Economics Improvement Program instead of Performance Improvement Program.

In summary, not heard rumors about a layoff recently. It would be nice to know how much money EM saved by implementation of Hotdesking and abandoning owned buildings, as that genius idea must have saved billion$ and saved all our jobs.

So long as management continues to CRUSH the morale of their work force* under their diamond-studded boots (in the form of NSIs), layoffs probably aren’t necessary.

*especially those loyal employees above the age of 50, get close to RE and you’re gonna get scorched.🔥

We are ExxonMobil.

There are no layoffs.
You just get a bad review and you quit.
They have it figured out.

Workplace survivor syndrome is a term used to describe the psychological effects that can occur after a workplace layoff or downsizing. Symptoms can include anxiety, depression, insomnia, and difficulty concentrating. Layoff survivor syndrome is often experienced as guilt, stress, depression and/or anxiety after others in your department or company have been let go. Survivors may be dealing with increased levels of uncertainty and feelings of incompetence to handle the pressure ahead.
