Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Jo Jo

Why is nobody talking about why Joanna was fired? Hand in her two weeks to leave gracefully? No way she walks out on her own and takes that personal PR career ending hit. It can’t be just poor business performance or the excuse that her mission was done. What legal hot water did she get into? Travel policy abuse? It had to be something huge to justify the HR support of action within two years of being hired.

She probably misstepped politically. There are landmines everywhere and the newbie didn’t know how to avoid them.

I don't like the idea of any of THEM getting control at Fidelity.

Skeptical of the rumors in this thread that she was against DEI and was pushed out for that reason. Fidelity isn't committed to DEI beyond the minimum any big corporation does based on my experience. Joanna is also Jewish and Canadian -- two identity groups not known for opposition to DEI. She probably was pushed out because Abby and her didn't mesh. Her predecessor was a smooth talking, east coast catholic girl and probably made Abby feel comfortable while Joanna was different in a lot of dimensions and maybe wasn't as gregarious.

Only a few know. The rest don't care as we know she has the cash. Most folks are indifferent to her. Didn't affect any of us. She wasn't a tyrant or bully like you know who.

Nobody talking about it because nobody cares.

I heard it was a legal matter, maybe DEI related.

Someone earlier said that she was against DEI and was pushed out.
