Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

100% remote (even though commutable to non-core hub) and just promoted!

Two colleagues who are 100% remote (live within 20 min. of office; no medical accommodation, WFH just bc they want to and got special permission from SVB) and live in CA (not core hub location), just got PROMOTED within existing team.

Pigs DO fly! Never say otherwise. Clearly, there's lots of $$$ to go around.

So tired of the favoritism.

Maybe they got promoted so they can qualify for a relocation package to a hub. Favorites. Protected.

Likely won’t last. WF is a cluster.

You know how our systems don’t “talk” to each other? Neither do the humans that make these high level decisions.

This version of WF disgusts me on the daily.

OP, it won't last. They still be gone.

Wells is unintentionally over-compartmentalized. Someone can get promoted and then terminated within a year for any number of non-disciplinary reasons.

C'mon, so two colleagues caught a break and you want to complain? I'm positive if it was you there would be no problem with it. Who knows, maybe next time it will be your turn to grab the gold. Be happy for them!

Our exec vetoed promotions for those not in a hub. Remote near a hub could still get a promotion (I got one) but the day is rapidly approaching that the remote privilege will end.

yeaaahhh, I guess if saul did actually grant exceptions while he was in tech - he learned his lesson because there will not be any in CSBB.

@ibu

If you can keep getting promoted, who needs to apply for a new position? Whole situation is BS.

Based on ppromotiins like these, 100% remote and not adhering to RTO mandate isn't a barrier to career growth or a recipe for layoff. We should all follow suit - refuse to RTO and climb the ladder!

CA, non-core hub, 100% WFH, no MA, not RTOing at all to office that close?

Def favoritism.

So many exceptions. When is WF going to crackdown? Cuz mandatory RTO starting Jan. 2024 was a total lie.

This is why there's no loyalty anymore. Constant gaslighting.

You can still be promoted if you are non-hub, that happens all the time. Those folks just won’t be able to apply for new positions if their location isn’t listed on the posting.
