Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Is it still policy you get walked out when you put in your two weeks? If I want to start a new job March 1, and I put in my two weeks February 15, will they walk me out that day and pay me two weeks to not work?

I put in my 2 weeks and they let me work the 2 weeks. I didn’t go to a competitor, though, I went to an auto supplier. Regarding your AICP, if you can delay your last day until that…..sure. If you are turning down much better offers from other companies just so you can’t stay with a sinking ship for a couple of thousand dollars……you’re a fool. You can probably make up the difference from your AICP in a couple of months like I did with the offer my new company gave me

I was walked out (virtually) and not paid for the 2 weeks. Essentially I was fired after rejecting their counter. On top of that, I had just returned from travel and hadn’t finished the expense report (would have submitted during 2 weeks). Now the bank is saying I owe ford the money spent on travel.

I won’t give 2 weeks again.

Yes, just don't tell them where you're going. They'll assume a competitor. Be ready to lose access to everything including your laptop immediately.

If you tell them where you're going and it's not a competitor then there is a high likelihood they'll make the work out your last 2 weeks in full.

Why would you act in good faitj to a company that has 0 interest in you.
Just tell it a day before and leave.
This company doesnt need any forewarnings.do the same to them as they conduct layoffs

I've seen people walked out and also some were allowed to finish their remaining time in the office. It depends on who you are, your circumstances and where you stand in the clique. If you're retiring, just wander off into the sunset and be happy you survived.

They normally terminate immediately after being informed that you're joining a competitor. As said before, you're not obligated to tell them where you're going, but if you can get an extra 2 weeks "vacation", I don't know why you'd keep it a secret.

That also is considering that you tell people where you are going. You are never obligated to say where you are going. My position is to never do this. Who needs to know? You are not obligated and it doesn't matter to anyone but you. Be prepared to be walked put if anyone's feelings are hurt about this. No one should care where you are going, only that you are leaving.

As other posters said, if you go to competitors like GM, you will be walked out right away. If you go to suppliers, usually, it won’t be an issue.

I was casually walked out after putting in my 2 weeks and mentioning I was going to GM. My 2 weeks were paid along with my unused vacation days. @GM, $15-27k bonuses, 6% 401k match and 3.5 - 4.0% annual raises and no Tommy Boy, I am not complaining.

It Depends on what company you are going to work for and what you are working on. Check hr policy.

From what I know this has never been a policy. The only people walked out immediately are those who do something bad. Tech companies do it but not here.
