Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Leadership is completely out of touch with employees

They do not understand the day to day struggles we have to deal with. I'm tired of being expected to do three jobs for the price of one because somebody many levels above me thinks it's doable by one person. I'm tired of having to work 60+ hour weeks at best to get everything done. I wish we could get the entire ELT to do our jobs just for one week. I bet they'd change their tune after that.

Whine whine whine. This has been the story for decades. Everyone forgets the undocumented job descriptions. Those are the responsibilities that get added on as new process etc are created. When you let the person go, whoosh all the processes break. That has been the story for decades so stop whining. Don’t like it, quit. They won’t miss you. If you are not willing to put your action where your mouth is then just sit down and do the work.

And in our case, the guy who creates eye catching presentations gets all the recognition up to Brian's level. He does no work but I heard he gets paid big bucks to make rubbish look good. All the data is senseless in there but it doesn't matter. Looks always help.

I work for Susan too. Tired of getting asked d-mb questions over and over again.
Seeing teammates constantly getting recognized for their ability to talk their way around things and not for the work they should know. It’s laughable.
Just trying to get thru this mess.

Yes to you my fellow poster below.. That was intended. I have witnessed the intention IN ACTION myself IN REAL TIME!

Much of this is politcal, and you might even be surprised to hear the ones of zero value are the most OVERQUALIFIED of all! How does this happen? PLAUSABLE DENIABILITY!

Say youre a leader, right? Ok. Lets just call Susan the perfect id--t. Susan, you see, has many many liscenses, she's even got three Masters degrees! And as it turns out, she's not very smart at all! That's right, Academia doesn't equate to real world value! Who woulda thought???

Now Susan is, from our dear leader's perspective, a golden candidate. She will be the second in command! No one doubts our dear leader's desision, after all, she is the most qualified (on paper). The only people who seem to disagree are the people on her team.

Odd. Wait a second. Hold up right there now mister..

You mean to tell me that Susan and her team don't get along?

...
.......

THATS PERFECT! :D

You see, now our dear leader never EVER has to worry about the second in command overtaking them! So our beloved id--t Susan gets promoted time and time again, and eventually, we're all just stuck with her as the boss when our dear leader retires. So long! Su-kas! Enjoy Susan!

This bank has a bunch of weak azz leaders. They are out of touch with employees issues. They only care about waiting for people to resign or quit so they don't have to pay severance. This is by far the WORST company I have ever worked for in my life. We have incompetent, uneducated and worthless management. We have so many empty suit mofos in this company and ain't even funny. Most of them have these stupid azz conference calls that are just a waste of time. Every time I am on one , I get nothing of value from them. It's just a bunch of unqualified id--ts running their fat mouths for an hour.

Living wage is all about supply and demand. As long as people are WILLING to work for low wages, then they will get paid low wages.

If everyone quit (not just one person but everyone), companies would be forced to raise wages. But nobody is quitting. They are just complaining.

People want others to quit to send a message. But nobody wants to quit themselves. You do it! Quit! Send a message! Me? No, I can’t quit. But I support you in quitting!

So therein lies the problem. Nobody quits. People have low salaries. And companies are ok with that.

Unless you are part of a union.

Well if you’re going to make stereotypes, then I guess I know you you’re voting for.

Oh wait, that’s a stereotype too.

Enough can we PLEASE get back to the topic of layoffs?

I think people are genuinely exhausted that the 3 hours of work they put in each day “feels” like 60 hours a week.

But you missed the 5 hours each day they are on this site. So really, the count is 38 hours a day lol

We really need a Elon Musk type to come in and clean house. I think at least 75% of the workers here are dead weight.

I need to work remote because I have to take care of my kids. I watch the younger ones for 4 hours and my husband watches them for another 4.

I also have to do laundry and prepare lunch and dinner. That takes another 2 hours. Then I have to take the older kids to after school practice and that’s another 3 hours (I am efficient so I go grocery shopping during this time too).

I also have to help my kids with their homework because fractions are hard. That takes another 2 hours.

Showering and getting ready for my day, plus making breakfast for the family… well, another 2 hours.

I have to pay bills, take the kids to dr appointments, run to Target for bday presents… the list goes on! At least another 2 hours of my day.

I’m so tired! If I don’t get at least 6 hours, I’m useless.

And to top it off, I work 12 hours a day (60 hours a week)! At least!

Wait, that’s 33 hours each day. Never mind, I lied. I only work 3 hours a day. But I still need to work remote and the bank needs to pay me more!!

This company needs to start paying employees a cost of living wage. If you keep paying employees cr-p , you will get employees that will just do the bare minimum. It doesn't make sense for this slimy CEO BM to go on CNBC and talk about this shlit company doing good by paying shlit wages and tripling employees responsibilities.

The culture here is not going to improve. You have to decide whether you want to work here as it is, or leave. Quitting (voluntarily attrition) is the goal and has more value to shareholders than making you happy.

You can blame current employees of being lazy and not really working, maybe so in many cases. I am looking at retirement soon and one thing I have seen over the past 10 years is a total failure not for leadership as a concept, but for who they have been elevating into leadership roles at every level and how they get there. No people skills, focused only on their own careers, no concept of team building, no concept for how to lead by example, poorly educated, no exposure to any type of management training, abrasive and manipulative to the people that report to them while being obedient and servile to the people they report up to. In short, no leadership qualities of any kind.

The down arrows will come from people who you described in your post. This is not just at BOA and other major banks, but in almost all U.S. industries.

I reflect the days of my first job making $3.25/hr at a fast food restaurant. No tips or gratitude back in those days. No, I was not on the Mayflower, but close. It was expected when you are a teenager. It was a learning experience starting out on your first job. Today, there are tip jars at most counters to include self-serve gas stations. Last fall, I went to a county fair requiring separate admission and parking fees. In the restrooms, there were large baskets soliciting tips. In lieu of tips, how many stars, thumbs up, positive reviews have you gave in the past week alone. What ever happened to smiles and thank you now and then?

We now live in a pampered society and older citizens will have to adjust and su-k it up. Nothing new from generation to generation. My only response is KARMA. Eventually the ones complaining will get older and be subject to the same concerns. Instead, there will be one day work weeks, all employees working remote, and everybody will be paid for doing little to no measurable work. And you wonder why more people are embracing AI in the workplace. Just remember, you can be replaced and this includes Brian!!!

For those who claim to work 60 hours a week, or 12 hours a day, they wouldn’t have time to be on this site.

For those who say they’re doing the bare minimum, they aren’t working 60 hours a week.

Everyone likes to say they work hard, but at the end of the day… nobody works but everyone claims to work… not everyone deserves a raise, but everyone feels deserving of a raise… nobody thinks an Ivy League educated CEO does anything, yet nobody can understand the difficult financial concepts he discusses during earnings…

Our society has become one of laziness and it’s not just at the bank. Even Boeing employees can’t sc--w in bolts. We are lowering our standards, while other countries are improving theirs. Our kids complain about going to school for a few hours, while kids in other countries go to class from 7am-9pm and are grateful for the opportunity.

We raise kids to think they are deserving of more than they should and I blame it on all the participation awards they got as kids. “My kid got the award for being the 7th person to be kind.”

Maybe your kids should just be kind and not get an award for it. It only teaches them to be entitled and that they deserve recognition for nothing.

Ok, done venting. Thanks all for listening! Let the down arrows begin…

There are just too many incompetent people in management. They don't understand the work being done. They rely on heatmaps and skewed reports based on fiction.

This is all a game to make you quit. B of A does this on purpose to pile more responsibilities on you and give you miniscule pay increases. This is really a sad company to work for and to be associated with. We have weak azz top management that don't give a damn about us. All I can say is just do the bare minimum in this shlithole bank until something better comes along.
