New Job Titles

Anyone know why the area manager title was replaced with the title of associate director?

Well, since the last 50 reorgs didn’t work, T figured they’d throw job title changes into the mix. Apparently everything that’s wrong with this company can be fixed through webphone without actually doing any work, or at least that’s what the C-Suite thinks.

“ n HR guy I know condescendingly called them “vanity titles”. You are still L2, but have a lot more responsibility than non supervisory L2. With the same pay.“

Literally nothing has changed except the title.

Now, you “could” have an argument about why would anyone want to be a L2 with L2’s reporting to them, as many do… when there is no additional incentive to take on all of those personnel headaches and being the face of all bad news, all the time. As an L2 individual contributor that once managed people, I say no f’ing thank you. Oh but now instead of Area Manager, you get to call yourself an Associate Director. How prestigious, LOL. You have got to be bleeping kidding me.

@tvv+1qX7xkhP Vz has newly introduced Associate Director and Associate VP titles. I think all these telcoms play follow the leaders and they are all using the same market studies.

It improved the pay bands slightly and allowed for L2 promotions of non supervisory first level favorites.

"I was cheaper to change titles than have INFOR customized for our existing titles."

As was explained in 99 emails. But of course, it's better to make it a conspiracy or state sideways motives,

I'm a former AM. It makes zero difference to me or any of my peers.

To better align with the rest of the business. Personally I think the associate director title is better than area manager. But then again, no other company has an associate director title, usually those are called directors and have far less headcount, responsibilities and make more money.

Easier to explain to potential buyers… we only have X many titles… X many locations… etc.. everything being done is to reduce headcount and complexity to facilitate selling the assets…

They are throwing management a bone. A better sounding title right before they lose their job.
