Thinning the herd

Fidelity is encouraging attrition first on its older workers. Smaller raises, smaller bonuses, no promotions, unwanted movement within the company as well as transfers. If that doesn’t work, then possibly a VBO.

I am getting squeezed out of Fidelity. Age 52. Passed all my licensing exams no problem. About to transition into the branch full time and was told today that they have the position to a 20 year old who couldn’t pass her first exam. They also told me there was no flexibility in the workplace. I have kids and I’m paid less than I pay babysitters. I thought I was sacrificing myself this year as an investment in my future. I feel like they just su-ked the life out of me. Completely used. Maybe they hired me to get their diversity numbers up? Notice how all the marketing talks about diversity “hires” but nothing about retention.

I agree with your post. Fidelity is encouraging quiet quitting, so let them have it. Working for the rich blows! You guys should all call in sick on the same day. HA!

Don't forget, they can also give fewer shares, or no shares at all. That can have a big impact on long-tenured associates.

The incompetency epidemic is alive and well with the younger workers. They are green and think everyone is an id--t but them. They break things all the time. They don't know how to integrate new processes into existing structures. When there are no gray heads around any longer, it will all fall apart.
