Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

You better think twice

You guys are perilously mistaken if you don't think the company has the ability or willingness to gather badge swipe data. And, they can quickly pull data detailing the time you were on the company network versus VPN, on a daily basis I might add.

Does RTO su-k - yes! Especially for those that worked remotely for decades prior to Covid. But for the life of me, I don't understand why there is so much angst to have to go into the office 3 days a week. For the super majority, you were going into the office 5 days a week prior to Covid anyway. Put it into perspective - for those who are left, we have a job, and most have not had to uproot your family and move to a new city.

We can agree on all the jacked-up reasons why we are where we are - but the RTO issue should be a moot point.

Trust me. They can look up "anything" they want, when they want in order to get rid of you! They don't tell you what you're doing wrong so a case can be built up against you. GPS, VPN, badge swiping, and visual recording are just documented, documented, documented.

"They were pulling VPN data 6 years ago to determine building loads and which groups got permanent cubes (cubes, the good Ole days)."

But now none of the C-Suite can even spell VPN. So we're safe.

actually they are so incompetent that they haven't figured out how to deal with in and out swiped during the middle of the day or locations where you don't swipe out. All the data I've seen is how many days you've swiped.

They also can't figure out how to reconcile when you swipe into a building and when you also use a vpn.

You know you have no security with a once good company to work for. That is unfortunate for you. There is no use for your animosity toward the older workforce.
The one thing that Stankey's AT&T is good at is having an equal opportunity hatred of anyone that draws a salary.

He hates legacy employees, because for every 1 Dollar paid to them, he can't waste 2 Dollars on failed mergers and acquisitions. You are stealing Stankey's money!

He liked the H-1B "employees" making 60 cents on the Dollar. Now the H-1B workers are finding out, to their horror that their jobs are being sent back overseas for 10 cents on the Dollar.

Tell me where you stand with job security? You are not special.

Stanks and Co can shove it up their backsides. Not going to live in fear of their poor decision making. Looking forward to the next chapter in my career without these id--ts

Badge swipe data has been available for several months now. That’s a known fact and many of us have seen the data.

They are working vpn/lan but there are a lot of variables at play.

This isn’t new or shocking information.

  • “We literally do not have enough space available in our building to handle all assigned 5 days a week. We're network, we're mostly Sambar org., there is barely enough desk space as it is with 3 days. 5 days? you'll have bodies lined up, sitting in the hallways and parking space down the road because already, except for Friday - the lots are near capacity.

at this point, what will they do. put us on a 'naughty list'? i don't care anymore.”

The naughty list is a lie and doesn’t exist.

Going in 3 days is no big deal. If they blanket flip everyone to 5 they better get more space in some of these hubs because that’ll be a disaster.

Going in 5 days without an assigned desk would be absolutely miserable. Maybe that’s what they want though.

What if you go to the office and just stay on the VPN? Some of these building have almost no LAN connections available.

Swipe and IP/VPN data is available and can be pulled. But outside of the RTO canned reports, I've not used or was sent the data outside of sec breaches like some id--ts who decided to take their laptop out of the country for 6+ months outside of the US and work during COVID. Yes, those were flagged, but it still took a while.

Re: RTO - expecting anything less than a 5 days a week (less personal commitments) is just not reality. My old boss (L5) started coming 5 days a week months ago and dropped plenty of notes expecting the same for those in a career growth mindset.

@1joc+1qYJyaTK No longer an employee (thanks RTO) but when I was there users could pull their own reports showing IP addresses. With all the systems being changed out and moved to cloud, users may have lost that capability but the data is there. Cloud applications were more difficult and expensive to customize, in my experience.

I also knew people in New Jersey who received little notes from Corporate Real Estate saying their cubicle would be marked vacant and cleaned out unless they were in it at least three days per week. They used VPN login data to determine this. (This was when remote work was encouraged as a cost measure, to reduce leased office footprint).

It was always pretty clear that directors and AVPs lived in fear of showing up as outliers on office occupancy or "net promoter score" more than actually coming up with more revenue or efficiency.

I’m not too concerned, they can’t even keep our restrooms supplied. Constantly out of TP, soap and paper towels. Good luck if you badge swipe at a CO and need to use the facilities, maybe that’s their plan to force employees to other offices.

Hey! If I see see you dancing outside, almost going turtle, trying to use the bathroom at my CO, you better bring at tribute. One roll of Charmin or Scott tissue. That is the cost for a card swipe these days.
No one swipes and No one wipes for free.

I don't know how young you are nor do I care. Allow me to guess though. You are living the dream working for AT&T. The house, the wife, maybe a few toys in the driveway. How about the 75K new truck at 8% interest.
Stankey DOES NOT care. You our are not the new generation of AT&T. You will not see retirement with AT&T.

Stankey is using RTO to force people who have retirement benefits to quit before they can use those benefits. Those who are younger not (boomers) will be replaced by Statesh, Amir, Rohan, and Mustafa. They will do the needfull for 10 cents on the Dollar. You will not be needed much longer.

I think most are over fear and just waiting for the e-mail or call while doing their job but not any extra. I know I don’t go above and beyond anymore, it’s the environment Stankey has created, I’m just living my purpose for numero uno, quid pro quo. I give labor and my time, they give me a salary, end of story. It’s just a job, no more or less, here till the checks quit cashing or a better opportunity comes along, looking more actively now.
