Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Argentina

Any insights on how we're feeling about the current political/societal climate in Argentina? Curious to see if anyone has intel on how management is viewing the situation and if keeping business functions there is sustainable.

Despite what you read on reddit Milei is good for the country, even if he doesn't make it the full term. The previous ruling class were so far detached from reality that the country has gone nowhere but down in 80 years. Half the country thinks everything should be free while making no effort to work for anything. It's really sad for the small percentage of private industry workers that pay for the state and all the freeloaders.

The concession EM has in the Vaca Muerte is beyond world class. All of the best shale oil wells EM has drilled are in the Vaca Muerte field. Unfortunately past government actions make it nearly impossible to repatriate profits.

@1wuv Pretty sure the Argentines didn’t invent “quiet quitting” (aka: doing what it says in your job description).

I’m also pretty sure the old guys taking to this board to complain about everything everywhere constantly aren’t more productive.

Argentinians lives are so complicated by their everyday environment that they have little capacity or desire to deal with any of exxon's or any of US employee's bs. It is bare minimum effort, but in their defense exxon pays them the bare minimum so why would they try harder?

The transition to HCL aka India has started. We complained a lot how lazy Argentina folks are and now we are going to get an eye opener when India is online and can’t do basic work without 20 emails back and forth over a month. Look at EMIT

The holders of capital preferred Milei (far-right anarcho-capitalist) to the incumbent government.

EM bosses aren’t complaining about him if that’s what you’re asking.
