Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

We have 6 EVPs and 77 SVPs

We have:

6 EVPs
77 SVPs

And there must be countless VPs and directors. Is this top-heavy given the amount of employees in the company?

At the EVP level no? The company has the basic functions and no more. At the SVP level probably.

Incredibly heavy at the EVP and SVP level. Tells you how many different silo's there are therefore how difficult it is to get agreement on anything that cuts across those orgs. In the best case its way to slow and in the worst case susceptible to politics, pocket veto's, and ignorant non engineer leaders having equal voice in something they have no idea about - this is how you reach decisions like millimeter wave and lack of network capacity makes business sense.

Bobby Mudge and Chris Creager are going to flatten the company once they buy the whole thing. Spans of control will greatly expand. No more SVPs with two direct reports.

The business side is EXTREMELY top heavy with Directors and above having as few as 5 TOTAL resources under them. It's no wonder we're expense heavy.

RTO is great just like pre covid. Teams come in and most folks stand around gossiping and doing nothing while a few try to concentrate and get work done. People are in the office so they don’t even need to pretend to work because they are in the office. G’luck getting a response from slack or emails.

Meh. It is a game of musical chairs. Who cares, most of the meaningful change doesn’t come from the director level anyway. If anyones job should be replaced by AI it is SMs and directors.
