Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Model E gravy train is over

All, get out while you can. Model E is a failure, a mistake from Farley. It's a money loosing business and all facilities are being reconsidered to shutdown.

@8wtt Glorified golf cart indeed. But even in the golf cart communities where people use golf carts for transport most people opt for gas golf cart due to range and convenience. Yes, the two golf cart households might have one of each. The people who do buy electric seem to be always upgrading.

“A friend got a rental of a Tesla over the holidays. It’s undoubtedly the industry standard for EVs and a complete blast to drive. The problem: It’s not a practical car at all. He was driving in the cold, and the car was nearly drained after two hours… His conclusion: This is indeed a glorified golf cart… Keep in mind that this is the best the industry has to offer. The other manufacturers of these things make products not nearly as high-rated, which is why so many of them are sitting on lots unsold and why orders for the machines are plummeting…It seems like the EV craze has peaked already…”

That whole dioxane poisoning really ticks me off. I remember in the early 1990s the state suing Gelman, winning and then ordering Gelman to clean the plume up. Just a few short years later Gov Engler + Michigan Legislature changed the rules to say oh hey even though the EPA says only 0.35 parts per billion are safe in the drinking water, 85 parts per billion is safe in Michigan drinking water; no need to report or do anything about anything less than 85 parts per billion. Here we are 30 odd years later, how many MI citizens have been poisoned and how many consumers of MI food poisoned?
IDK the whole Flint water situation didn’t shock me as I saw it as just more of the same. AA is pretty affluent compared to Flint.

@6adh+1qdBzYXp In November 2023 the Gelman Plume was moved to the National Priorities List. The NPL is the worst of the Superfund sites. It is a list of known sites throughout the US where historical releases of hazardous substances pose significant threats to human health and the environment.
The Ann Arbor ground water is toast 75% of city wells contaminated, just a matter of time before all are contaminated. The plume is in the Huron River and headed towards Ypsilanti and eventually Lake Erie.

@4rto Thats alarming given the amount of human and pet food that is being sourced from China, not to mention vitamins, supplements, toys and other items. All those EV graveyards are going to inevitably contaminate the soil and water. After tracing some of the Amazon branded food back to China (the ones that do not clearly state they are a product of USA) we stopped buying them.

Gotta love the air quality down river. Lovely over Xmas after yet another battery fire at GM Factory Zero. I guess we are all down river of the Ford to be Marshall plant. Goodie Goodie we won’t just have the Gelman Dioxane Plume contaminating our drinking water, ground water.

Doesn't matter if the opportunities are endless if Ford cannot get off of it's duff and execute. Obviously you haven't seen or analyzed the NUMBERS...which at the end of the day are all that really matter. You put too much faith in what leadership says and not enough stock in what they do or have done. Wake up and get informed..or don't and sink with the ship. Safe travels. Your loyalty will not be repaid and you'll be unceremoniously dismissed when the time and need is there just like he rest of Ford GSR and agency.

@5hwd+1qdBzYXp. Unfortunately, the Model E best of the best have a flaw in their science and political education. They actually believe that government decrees replace actual data. As such, they are incapable of designing and selling vehicles that individuals want.

@5hwd What you believe to be “success…on the horizon” is actually the edge of the cliff Model e is about to go over.

Model e has been staffed with the best of the best internal GSR level employees and the Model e leadership ranks has that and the best leadership talent from outside tech companies. It's a fact, and why the success is on the horizon. Just be patient.

@4xku+1qdBzYXp it’s pretty clear to intelligent people that there are no brains behind model e.

Here's an article on Zerohedge this morning saying the market for USED electric vehicles is not so great.

According they have "EV graveyards" all over China.

Model e a mistake from JF? How obtuse. First it's not a mistake, it determines our future as a company.
Second it was developed by Doug Field, not JF. While the success of Model e should be shared with all Ford employees, never forget who was the brains behind it.

Yep. WCF has been the common denominator with Ford's problems the past years...

Where's the Model E cheerleader/Kool-Aid connoisseur from several months back? I miss their insight (unintended hurmor?), some of the things they said were comedic GOLD.

@3xgf+1qdBzYXp But all the lights are green in the management report ups and there are zero issues. Who will blink first and admit there are problems? Not I said the little red hen…

Launch we shall as everything is green.

How does the BoD not know about the shitshow that is FNV4? Are their heads in the sand?

The software issues are going to massivly delay GE2 and TE1. It is a gigantic mess.

Implementing an all new architecture, but then Doug chose to use this as an opportunity to use Autosar at the same time? Even Tesla was smart enough to avoid that festering pile of sh-t.

The recalls in 2026 are going to be monumental!

BF is the problem, he only hires ceos that agree with him: whether it’s electrification or transfer of salaried jobs to lcc. JF / Hackett haven’t done one thing that bf wouldn’t do. listen to BF speak it’s self evident.

And clueless Bill gets duped again. Another clueless CEO takes all his money and destroys the company more than the previous clown. Billy keeps falling for these slick Wi--y’s and their BS. What did we get from JH and now JF. How much money did just these two clowns walk away with and how much damage did they do to the company. Not only are they crumbling the company but crumbling peoples lives while enriching them selfs. Hand the captions seat to someone that knows how to run it and who will holed these clowned accountable. Sad what is happening to this company.

Gotta love Mr Farley's initiative to split the company up into 3 working groups ....will make it easier to close down the entire EV division after burning thru tens of billions of losses.

"when a new administration comes in next year" working from jail?

by

Post ID: @kju+1qdBzYXp

Yep, I heard massive layoffs are coming. The board is pi---d. Executives know that the ceiling for EV sales are way less than the prior projections. They also know when a new administration comes in next year the EV mandates are toast.

The result is that the budget for Model e is begging slashed. From top to bottom. Plus engineering for EVs is limited. The only thing that needs any work is battery technology. But the platforms for EVs are all the same.

Model e will be less than half the size it is now but this time next year.

Blue and hybrid technology is going to be the savior of this company, if it can be saved.

Not sure where you are getting these falsehoods from or why you are spreading them. Model e is d0still the main pillar of Ford Motor Company for the future and now. The opportunities for growth are endless. Obviously you haven't heard or understood a single thing from Ford leadership cascade from your own LL6 (if you even work at Ford), all the way up to Doug Field.
