Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Lumen technologies is where At&t will be in a year

I see where Lumen technologies is at and it looks like we are headed in the same direction!!
Lumen has been selling itself off in pieces bit by bit and now they are almost only fiber in certain areas and select customers.
believe they sold all the copper to someone else and now their stock is at 99 cents!
anybody have any insight on this are we headed the same way!?

"Lumen Technologies struck a $7.5 billion deal to sell its ILEC assets in 20 states to investment firm Apollo Global Management. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2022.

Apollo is acquiring Lumen’s CenturyLink footprint in the Midwest and southeastern U.S. (except Florida), including its local fiber and copper network assets, broadband and voice customers served by those holdings, connectivity to tower sites and central offices. All told, Lumen is handing over 200,000 fiber-enabled units and 7 million addressable location"

T is slowly turning the corner...

Are you for real! T isn't turning the corner anytime soon. As soon as things start to look like they're improving from a financial standpoint, mark my words, T will do something very stupid and very costly like they always do. T only knows how to operate behind the 8 ball!

“ T is slowly turning the corner”

What company have you been part of ? The compnay has never, ever been in a more vulnerable or financially worse position. Bad, very bad things to come in 2024 for employees.

Poor comparison, AT&T is much more than Lumen. It is trending towards less badged employees and outsourcing for anyone not physically touching the network.

The Lumen stock is $1.73 not 99 cents.

T won’t end up like Lumen, they have annuity revenue, ie mobility and fiber, but the pace of outsourcing and surplus will be even more aggressive over the next 18 months. The goal is to have approximately 20% of the T work force badged, the remaining to be vendors and associated contractors. Sad but true…..

T is slowly turning the corner, retiring old tech and transport while investing in wireless and fiber build. Obviously their big drag is all the accumulated debt but financials are starting to move in a positive direction.

I know many people at Lumen. This post is neither factual, informed or well considered.

Based on the wireless biz I’d say the T is not that close behind- however us west, qwest and now lumen do mortgage the future to pay for short term gains just like AT&T, as a result their wireline network shows the same holes T’s does if it’s difficult to put fiber in they skipped it -copper is cheaper anyway… comcast is reaping the benefits just like they do in MOKAT, & Cali

Not a change. You would have to be a freaking id--t to destroy a company that makes $120B in revenue per year.

What was the name of Lumen’s cellular network? Did they’d have 220 million wireless customers?

Dream on. At&t for all its shortcomings is way ahead of Lumen.

It might be accurate, but I recently parted ways AT&T in the Public Sector org in August with a sweet six-month payout. Lumen swooped in to rescue me in October, throwing in a generous 25% raise on my base pay for good measure.

imagine where T would be without the warner and DTV acquisition. So much cash available for fiber build, spectrum to compete with magenta and TDS acquisition for pennies.

AT&T is probably about to acquire them at this rate. And Lumen still has all the copper from US West and the few profitable copper areas of CenturyLink.
