Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon Employees Down 50+% (2007-2022)

Over the last 16 years Verizon's employee numbers have decreased from ~235,000 to ~117,100. That's a decrease of ~117,900 or greater than (>)50%.

Granted this includes some VZ corporate spinoffs/sell offs, etc., however that tally also includes tens of thousands of layoffs.

Given the ridiculous overpricing of Verizon's non-differentiated wireless & Cable TV services it's logical to conclude this downward trend in employees will continue until the corporate strategy changes.

Hm financial statementd you say?
Ok how about VZ 10Ks filed with the SEC to use for financial statements.
“As of December 31, 2008, Verizon and its subsidiaries had approximately 223,900 employees.”
“As of December 31, 2016, Verizon and its subsidiaries had approximately 160,900 employees.”
“ Verizon is committed to being an employer of choice. With approximately 117,100 employees on a full-time equivalent basis as of December 31, 2022, 89% of whom are based in the U.S.”
Over 110 employees? yes. Barely changed? I think those numbers are a bit more than barely.
I really love that last one “Employer of choice” which doesn’t have quite the same meaning when the headcount is dropping like that.

BS! All one need to do is look at the financial statements year over year. The number of VZ employees has barely changed. Over 110,000 employees on the books for decades. Really not hard to find.

T-Mobile, an amalgamation of/with Sprint does not have an union workforce. Thus, the difference in competitive costs to consumers, T-Mobile versus Verizon/AT&T.

Fate, and recalling Sprint wireless was a separation, spin-off, from the former GTE Corporation, Stamford CT, which in June 2000, merged with Bell Atlantic, to form Verizon Communications, Inc., as its today. Consummated when the original logo where the big red check mark was over the first letter of name, the big V.

How does that compare to T-Mo/Sprint; AT&T percentage wise?

There are managers praying their employees would unionize so the management low on the pay band can get a raise.

Pay policy says managers of unionize wireline employees get 15% on top of the highest union title. So with any kind of network operations role, that’s an automatic $100k. Further, these managers would also be eligible for shift differential.

And Verizon is getting the same amount of work done or more because management employees are working on their vacations and 70 hours a week. Management needs to Unionise. I said that when Verizon stole our pensions but everyone was scared and they are still scared.
