Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

There are many better companies out there

Folks here are so used to being used and stepped all over that they forget there are places that treat their employees with respect and like the assets they are. What some of us have to go through here every day is not normal and we shouldn't accept it as such. I have no intention of staying at AT&T longer than I absolutely have to. Others should consider leaving as well. The grass is much greener outside of this place.

yeah i hope people who are miserable find their way out. I got offers the first three jobs I applied for because I kept my skills up to date on my own and nothing to do with att.

man what a difference I haven't heard the word layoff since I left att and have been with two companies since. I cannot tell you how great it is to go work and do your job without thinking what department is going to get laid off today.

never had to worry about working a strike either since I left. what a joke strike training.

I feel for the people still there who are miserable. I got out recently and feel for my friends left behind that are still under the worst boss I've ever encountered. I'm still surprised by how employee focused my new employer is sometimes.

Unless you already have something lined up, plan on retiring, or have more than the mgmt 6 month severance, i dont know why people wait to be cut. The cookies and a-s cake they send out each year doesn't make up for the mediocre pay and abuse.

OP, you're so right which is why I'm out of here come April. I can't wait to turn in my resignation from this insane asylum called AT&T!

@"There are many better companies out there."

Let me tell you from first hand experience there are many worse companies out there too.

I've come to the realization that Corporate America is pretty similar wherever you happen to work.

1st and 2nd level management is treated badly.

Yeah, it wouldn't be a problem if 1st and 2nd level management got over their brainwashing and organized a union of their own.

I'm fairly young, and I am completely baffled as to why the older employees are so allergic to unionization. They always treat it like a joke, and I fail to see what's funny. It's like dealing with someone who refuses to admit they are in an abusive relationship. They only wake up when the company stabs them in the back.

Hear hear! Amen to this. Happiest I’ve been in 15 years. Should have left sooner for my well being.

Union employees at least have a contract to keep the company in line. We just got more paid sick leave in CA so I think I'll stick around a little longer and twiddle my thumbs.

I am looking forward to it. I am tired of working at a place where literally no one gives a flying flip about you. I see the camaraderie and closeness of the teams that friends and family are a part of at other companies, and I do miss that. It's been a real long time since any of that existed here. That said, with obligations that I still have at this stage of my life, I do make good $$ here, and I am unwilling to leave that severance on the table. I can stick it out until my number is called.
