Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Credit RTO probably the guinea pig for Motor RTO

Ford Credit implemented a mandatory RTO starting this week. The rumor I've heard has been it's a test run of doing the same to the rest of Ford and/or a quick fix for cutting resources. Throwing that out there for any white collar workers banking on WFH.

Also Marion Harris retiring right before implementing this is dirty as all get out and got rid of any optimism I had about this place.

has anyone heard about Ford Motor Credit and how the new CEO's philosophy has created a culture shift. Any thoughts on what how this will impact the company and if people are wanting to jump ship? Hearing things from people on IT side of house that they are focused more on cost cutting and not customer first, due to loss in EV revenue/production.

And how successful was Credit's RTO? Very few meeting rooms with any capacity, everyone in your team is packed within a 25 foot radius with absolutely no barriers, which means personal and work related conversations are being had that can be heard across the room. That doesn't sound like a great idea for the entire company.

Prior to the COVIDian days, Ford was shifting to no assigned desk (“hoteling”) and remote working. Management that thinks cubicle workers glued to their laptops all day in WebEx meetings are going to collaborate are imbibing in some mushrooms.

Workers have been able to offset the stiff rise in prices over the past couple of years by not having to pay for daycare, lunch, work clothes and commuting expenses. RTO is going to be a big financial hit. Those who think that working remotely is all about goofing off aren’t considering the real financial implications. Nor have they been working very long. Believe me, when an office worker wants to goof off all day, she’ll find a way. In the cubicle days, that meant going over to someone else‘s cubicle and chatting. Usually it was about kids or cats or trips or office gossip. Then you had TWO workers unproductive instead of just one. See, it’s all up to management to be skillful in assigning tasks, setting completion dates, and following up. They are bad at that so they have been telling their bosses “RTO!” Well… what are they going to do when they’ve got all their little minions parked in their temporary unassigned desks and productivity still sμcks?

Ford credit customer service has been told mandatory Overtime everyday for the entire month of January. Everyone just found out today. Apparently this has not been done before. Are there going to be that many Problem phone calls all of a sudden or is this a way to make people leave?????
