Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Are there layoffs actually coming in 2024? Or is this site just full of trolls?

It always seems doom and gloom here; is there actual proof or cause for concern? The layoffs seem to happen around June time every year here so we have a few months (at least?)

Zone Managers with many years of experienced are being terminated and their work outsourced to brand new low cost replacements in Mexico. Many good people will be out of work and small dealers will suffer the consequences.

I'd say that if you are betting your career on Ford you are already in the wrong mindset. Your career is your responsibility and that's it. Don't plan on retiring at Ford. That's not the correct mindset for anyone to have now at this time. Don't stake your future on any company you aren't running yourself. I came to this site at 1st for the sheer comedic value...the Mr. Town Hall take their word guy...(man you are funny). But there are employees with legitimate concerns on here. But one thing I have noticed is that there are very few if any legitimate claims here when it comes to layoffs. Everyone has an LL4 buddy..or some kind of indication. There is a lot of doomerisim on this site and people thinking they have some kind of inside track. Very rarely is that the case.

For the people calling everyone on here trolls, you are being naive. Many reasons why. A former co-worker got me on this site because I too was worried about another layoff. I remember last year when Ford laid of 3800 in Europe after many layoffs in the US the past few years. Then I remember Jim Farley said this is the most transparent executive team and employees will hear from them before anyone does and said there are no further plans for layoffs. I believed him. I saw many people here speculating and I thought they were just trolls as well. Then late June came and another layoff was announced. I didn’t hear it from Farley himself, which he said we would hear it from him. I heard it from the Detroit News. This guy leaked this to the media so they can do his dirty work and not face the fact he lied to his employees. Then Bill Ford put salt on the wounds by saying in Germany “every employee of Ford is just an extended member of the Ford family.” If that’s how you treat family then I want to be adopted to another family…..so I started applying for jobs. After what happened last year I believe every word in this forum! It’s really a shame though. I had every intentions of retiring at Ford and being a proud company man but when I can’t trust my leadership team I have to leave. Fortunately I’ll be starting another job this month with another company. I truly am rooting for Ford’s success. I really do…..but I’m not going to bet my career on it. For everyone staying at Ford doing your best, I wish you nothing but success but for people who are wanting to leave…..I can’t blame you

Lots of speculation and rumors. Speculation is fine if there is reasoning to back it up. For example, look at the EV market, the new and used vehicle markets in general, the economy, and statements execs have made to the media. Look at the company's financial statements and news articles about what Ford is doing in other countries, etc. Piece these clues together and come up with a theory. If someone says, "Layoffs next week," and doesn't follow that us with something more substantial, then you can pretty much ignore it.
