Who has the input in making who gets laid off in an department? Is it only decided by your manager?

You can also ask to be laid off if you don’t want to stick around
Your value and productivity determine your fate. You will be fired because you waste time in these sites instead of upskilling. Blame Mr. Stankey if you must, but he knows what he’s doing. He’s the reason our stock is going up. You are the headwind that drags us all done. Quit already!
For management (non-bargained) ---It's your L2 (Area Manager usually) and Director in most cases. Your business unit has a number they have to hit. Each AM needs to contribute to whatever that total number is. Historically, it would be the lower performers. People that don't ever seem to be around when they're needed. People that the AM finds they need to cover for frequently. Also, could be someone that volunteered and was accommodated. Those were easy. We're at the point after years of layoffs where it's not so easy anymore. If you don't think they will be using RTO compliance in that decision making process going forward, you're delusional. It makes it easier for them. And it is ALWAYS about the path of least resistance. You were told to comply; you didn't...case closed.
Easy peasy.
And don't believe your AM when they tell you that they had no input in the decision.

What I’ve been told is it depends. Sometimes your boss gets asked for a couple people, sometimes they are just told who.
RTO compliance metrics will play a big factor starting this year.
