This topic comes up every once in a while. It is possible. Anything is possible. I am assuming you are starting a new (old) rumor!
"PS there really aren’t that many between 22 years and 29 years. Close to 30 and they sue and win." Nope. GM, GE and many CO have done it without any issue. You would know better if you are part of the GRP as it is written in the document. I take it you're just a troll.
There are about 9K that are still employed and participate int he GRP. Go read the annual filling with the SCC.
There can't be too many people at Ford who still are eligible for pensions. I would think the cost benefit to the company would be minimal. They should have done it 5-10 years ago to make a financial differenced to the bottom line.
Too bad lump sums have taken such a bit over the last 2 years.
News flash, that was cuts in 2021. They went pension hunting already, lawsuit brewing. Why freeze when you can eliminate from the books altogether.
PS there really aren’t that many between 22 years and 29 years. Close to 30 and they sue and win.
So if they freeze it, what rates apply if they still offer lump sum? Scary thought a financial crisis which but no advantage with a rate decline to the pension. And at same time job loss risk....
Somebody has to pay for the union contract. It’s going to be on the back of the salary employees. Next thing they will take away is the salary retiree measly health care supplement. They took away everything else.
I hope the exaltation of glory is meant for the people leaving. They will have the last laugh when they look back over thier shoulders to see the sh-t show thier colleagues were left with. Merit based or not, the amount of work piled on thise that remain might have them thinking if they were the lucky ones.
You're talking about people with 20+ years at Ford. Not sure how many would leave even if they did freeze the pension.
It's coming......
Ava the mass exodus will be glorious.
