Let’s Unionize - SAP North America

We have all seen how the German employees are protected via their union (workers council). Why don’t we organize to protect employees in North America?

Do it but be careful. In one of the countries, there has been a Union - not very strong, but it was employee representation. Supervisory board elections came and another union was created, a yellow union, led by the managers, that called themselves OneSAP. They have bombarded all talks about collective agreement and other important stuff just to get the cushy position in the supervisory board. Then, they started to fire or force to leave the most active members of the original union. There are several legal battles ongoing and it's very bad. It's a European country but it's a typical union busting and no one gives a sh-t about it.

Just wondering if this is still going? Or if any progress has been made? Over the past 2 years, the lack of human consideration and respect has been getting worse and worse. As employees, we need to protect ourselves (it serves nobody else to do so). I think Unionizing is the future for tech, if employees are to have a voice at all

Agreed from shared services delivery team in United States as an employee of 10 years, let’s do this “ . The best way to get started quickly is to contact CODE-CWA and get professional organizing support from them, they know the sector and have supported dozens of organizing campaigns in tech:

https://code-cwa.org/organize”

Let’s start rallying within our North American teams and consult our German Works Council colleagues.

I'm certain that employees want to approach this path should also be able to get support from their European counterparts. SAP being a German company has already more or less strong employee representation within various European countries AND on the supervisory board which can be very powerful as well.

According to German law, when the company has more then 2000 employees, those employees can democratically elect part of the supervisory board (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supervisory_board#Germany). This results usually in direct works council representation in the supervisory board overseeing the execurity board AND even influencing strategic company descisions!

So, especially when combining employee power across the globe it could really make a difference! I would higly recommend to collaborate with the European works council/union structure already established. We employees can and should support each other!

All the best from Germany.

Unions also earn 30% less than non-union people. All pay increases are standardize, merit increases don't exist and bonus is company bonus.

Please, do that. Show this company who actually IS the company!

I love to unionize but I don’t want to be the person who organizes it. If you do it, I’d vote for it.

If you want to unionize, start by contacting the Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee (EWOC). EWOC will follow up within 48 hours to connect you with resources and an organizer who can provide free, confidential advice. I think with the current way things are going at SAP, people in North America who just want healthcare and security will be on board.

I'm in. Let us know where to sign, where to show up, and what to do. Been bullied and silenced by this company for long enough. The corruption in leadership is astronomical; meanwhile, every single SAP employee could be so much better off if they stopped hoarding their wealth and gaslighting us into thinking there's no money for employees.

Yes! I've been working at SAP for many years in NA and have never, not once, felt like my job was protected. It doesn't matter how much of your life that you sacrifice for the company, we are just bottom lines to leadership. After their bribery scandal, layoffs, multi-million dollar bonuses to executives, insane and unnecessary expenditures, and blatant s-xism within leadership, I wouldn't hesitate to join the movement. WE are SAP, not them.
