Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Would you actually RTO?

Does this also apply to remote employees? Like seriously?

Why should we relocate to Michigan to sit in the freezing weather in cr-ppy offices.

Many years ago I relocated to MI for Ford job

The MI pluses were lots of water sports, proximity to UP for outdoor activities, cooler summers, winters ki-l most insect pests, no fire ants, few poisonous reptiles.

The MI minuses were the race tensions, crime rates, commute time due to living in suburbs for better schools and low crime rates, high car insurance rates, horrible roads, adjusting to gray skies and winter weather, primarily a one horse (auto industry) area.

Would I do it again? Probably not, I’d just rent a cottage in the UP for a few years to enjoy the good MI aspects

I'm not in Michigan, but nearby a satellite Sales and Marketing office. I'm engaging with the leadership there to find some space in case RTO is implemented. At least it would buy me some time to find another job.

I have been working from home for the past 3 years. I am good. Not going back to any office. It's sad to be in a gloomy office where everyone is hiding and surfing the internet all day long. I rather be at home and work on my dude jobs for extra income and still getting paid from Ford. 👍

RTO or you're canned. The new layoff plan.

Its quite simple...you don't. That will be your green light to find different work. Unless it's the unlikely scenario that relocating for a job a Ford is actually worth it...which I cannot see how it would be unless you are just starting out. Even then just to have some LL or something flake out on you and then what..stuck. Nah...pass.
